One of the UK’s largest trade unions is to ban its members from visiting Israel and the Palestinian territories on delegations organized by the Trade Union Friends of Israel (TUFI), a London-based organization supporting cooperation between Israeli and Palestinian workers.
The GMB, which has over 617,000 members from an array of sectors, voted on Thursday at its annual conference in Plymouth to uphold a 2011 decision to “take a lead in driving forward the boycott and divestment initiatives” of “companies who profit from illegal settlements, the occupation and the construction of the wall.”
Last week, after the motion was moved and seconded by far-left anti-Israel activists, the union noted that “a major priority” of TUFI is to fight the boycott [of Israel] which they said “campaigns against the policy of this union.” Hence it determined that GMB members be banned from participating in TUFI-sponsored visits to Israel or from speaking to TUFI platforms.
The union also reaffirmed that it “unashamedly” is affiliated to the radical fringe group Palestine Solidarity Campaign. …

From some Brits we're told how their sense of racial tolerance is so superior to that of Americans, but at the same time we get such a far different story looking at their deplorable current attitudes of Israel as well as---
-- worse historic cooperation in German areas during the war. I'm not impressed.
Some Brits have demonstrated at times in history some of the best, and alas some of the worst, traits. I guess same for America? At any event, they appear to be in a downwards spiral nowadays, and some of their worst traits seem to be making the headlines fairly regularly ... as you noted.
My theory is that a strong Christian faith commitment brings out the best in a people, but... UK seems to be going pagan in any of its current popular forms (communist/socialist/progressive; islamic, and/or just plain “secular...” take your pick... they all converge in Hell....)
I am going to try to avoid this note becoming an unsolicited lecture to the Brits because, quite frankly, USA is just a little bit behind them on that road to Hell... for the very same combination of reasons, plus obviously we are being led from on top now... down that road.
So I prefer to just say, pray for the remaining good Brits and good Americans. They may no longer be determining the course of their nations, but they are still there....

For a moment I thought they were trying to prevent any of their members from traveling to Israel at all. Truthfully, I’m surprised that some obnoxious, political NGO hasn’t tried something like this.
Say, for example, a union in a state that isn’t right to work says that any of its members who traveled to Israel would be kicked out of the union, and thus lose their job.
Uh, the brits don’t have a very good history when it comes to Israel and Jews in general.

There are some good people in UK, however, many of them I think. And they have had their better moments historically also, such as Balfour Declaration, Chas. Orde Wingate (though there is some reason to believe the Brits killed their own officer), etc.
Today, it appears that the worst elements are coming to the fore again.
Pray for UK (and USA, America is being driven down the very same road to Hell...)

Lived there in the early 60’s. It was great then. Went back in ‘68 and then again in ‘95. What a difference. Still have a real close friend that lives over there most of the year. Since he has been there so much the changes aren’t that noticeable to him. When you’re gone for a lengthy bit of time, the changes are hugely easy to spot. Kind of like stuff creeping up on you and before you know it. Smack! Oops, there it is!

The Jewish population of Great Britain lives happily without any major anti-semitism. In fact, Judaism is openly celebrated as a long standing and vibrant part of British culture.
British TV ran pro-Jewish documentaries across all five of its network channels last year. Did America?.
British Jewish entertainers, writers, politicians and businesspeople openly celebrate their Jewishness. The London East End Jew, with his sharp wit and mouth is as well loved and known a cultural icon as the Glaswegian or the Cockney.
The current British Prime Minister is part Jewish. As is the deputy PM. As is the leader of the opposition party(Labour). So you have Jewish-descended people in the three most important political positions in the UK.
Are Obama, Biden and Romney Jewish?......
This article is disgusting. The comments about Britain are simply obnoxious. They are a disgusting slander on the vast, vast majority of the British people. Who are no more antisemitic than their American cousins.
The UK is the nation that rejected the naked antisemitism of the 1930’s Fascists, and continues to reject the antisemitism of the BNP and other fringe neo-nazi parties and groups. The nation that stood alone against Hitler, while America and others stood by. And the nation that liberated Belsen and saved Jewish lives.
To suggest that the British people are antisemitic OR that the jews of Britain are victims of mass cultural or physical antisemitism is a downright and disgusting lie.

Whoa, we don't want to accuse all 60 million Brits as being boorish just because we may be annoyed by only some of them.
OK, while we may feel too many UK subjects seem to flaunt their empty self-superiority I'd add that I think too many freepers do exactly the same thing on these threads, and we sure don't want to say all freepers are idiots. Then again, I've never met a Brit who'd accuse me of blaming all 60 million for the sins of just 'some'...
LOL --the English language peoples have more in common than that! Besides, let's remember that our good intensions only bear fruit when we're willing to go though hell to make things better.
So far as I know there’s no good proof of the theory (that his enemies within the British govt were responsible for that otherwise-Unexplained crash).
