A long time ago in a media world far, far away, Katie Couric was once seen as a competent, likable, down to earth co-host of NBC's "Today Show." She was appealing, smart, and accessible, But success ruined Couric. Over time, she became a Media Diva and a divisive, hysterical left-wing partisan. Whatever your politics, it is impossible to dispute that Couric went Hollywood -- and narcissism is never pretty
In the wake of her chilling metamorphosis, Couric has only met failure. But her latest endeavor, a daytime talk show, is making Couric's time at CBS look like the glory days of a fast-fading career:
While all television is going through a difficult time and programming is having a hard time finding its niche, Katies new talk show does not live up its expectations, a source closely connected to the ABC show told FOX411s column. Whatever constraints Katie experienced anchoring Evening News [it is] certainly taking its toll, and her return to daytime has backfired.
Others in the industry are even less kind. Its an unmitigated disaster, one seasoned studio executive said. One of the biggest failures ever in syndication. Terrible ratings, no growth, shouldnt be on the air. Where did it miss the mark? Lets start with her, she is dreadfully boring. The show offers nothing new to the audience, nothing to say.
When Katie launched in September 2012, and many expected that Couric would fill Oprahs shoes as the ultimate talk show Queen, and although the show is number one in the ranks of first-year talk shows in terms of ratings, it has endured an erratic, overall underperformance. Nielsen Media Research reported that in mid-May Courics show averaged a 1.6 rating/5 share average in households, down 30 percent from the same time period last year.

Kousin Katie needs to retire to spend more time with her money.
Translation - she’s a (rhymes with witch).
Replace her with Sarah Palin.
I love it when I see go by the wayside when changing channels
It’s still is bad to see her for 1 second!
“Over time, she became a Media Diva and a divisive, hysterical left-wing partisan.”
AKA “Olbermann Syndrome”
She’s as popular as Matt Lauer.
She used to be ‘perky’, now she’s just a bitter old bag.
With teeth that look like elephant toenails.
Who gives a rip? Show biz people are nonentities. What have they done worthwhile?
She’s on the same time as “The Five” in our area (DFW).
If you believe in karma bookmark this article.
I have to believe she lost a significant piece of her audience when she sandbagged Palin.
She’s like that “perky” aunt who is discovered to have poisoned a number of people over the years and somehow gotten away with it for a long tim.
LOL. That is hilarious.
How bout we replace ABC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I’d rather watch her colonoscopy.
sounds like the perfect replacement for Jay Carney...’cept she’s.....cough cough..............white
In music they would call her a one-hit wonder. Is she a one-show wonder? Her stint on the Today Show was the apex of her career. Now she’s just an overpaid, glorified newsreader who is going downhill fast.
LOL couldnt have happened to a nicer person...awwwwwwwwwwww poor perky one..Hey Katie, we havent forgotten what you did to Sarah Palin nor will we forget, so karma’s a b*tch
Katie needs to wear a sign around her neck saying ‘’Stop Me Before I Destroy Another Network!’’
Full blown, train wreck liberalism, is what is killing ratings. While Couric is as liberally vapid as the rest of the drones on liberal TV, she has one major strike against her; she was immortalized on South Park. Parker and Stone named the “Couric Scale” as a size and measurement of feces.
Quite fitting, if you ask me.
She’s not dancin’, she’s dropping a deuce.
Don't sugar coat it like that.
Tell us what she's really like.
I hear internet cam whore sites are hiring...
When she was young, she was attractive. I can’t think of any other positive thing to say about her.
“Replace her with Sarah Palin.”
BWA HA HA HA HA HA HA ! . . Wouldn’t THAT be RICH ?!! . . AND a fitting reward for Katie Obama Baby!
Katie Couric? Didn’t she used to be somebody?
I read an article a few years back about how elite believe money happens, as in knowing the right people etc., it's not earned nor is wealth created.
The time since that has passed has made me realize just how accurate that article was, I wish I could recall who wrote it though.
Anyone here recall it?
I'd love to have it saved, it really was so spot on.
That's a thought. All the networks were declared extinct years ago in this house.
She proved she was a perfect AH already on national TV, why is she still on??
Why exactly? Because you can read from a prepared script most of the time, or have established Liberal creds that you "care" during your interviews??
Real talent in any field does not have to be manufactured and is more enduring...
Be much more entertaining, huge ratings, and the whores could really use the cash.
Once in a while they could bring in a nice single mom or schoolteacher.
Katie Couric is even more repugnant than Diane Sawyer, if that is possible.
Which unfortunately means she may still be around for another decade......based on Sawyer’s career.
Wasn’t it announced in the last week or two that her show would be back for another season?
Having dumped tv in 1997, I wouldn’t know who she was if not for the Palin interview. When I read the headline, I thought, “Hey. Isn’t that the lady that bushwhacked Palin?
Yes, which will be the second season. This article says there won’t be a third and may not complete the second.
Absolutely amazing how the media elites can keep “failing up.” Couric left the CBS Evening News in worse shape than she found it, and now her daytime talk show (which airs primarily on ABC affiliates) is tanking. Surprised Big Journalism didn’t ask the sales manager at WABC or KABC how much money they’re losing in Couric’s timeslot, and how much of a drag she’s having on the local news.
The morning and evening news blocs are the most important revenue sources for a local station, and major market affiliates typically air two (or more) hours of local news every evening, starting at 3 or 4 pm. And, since the ABC owned-and-operated stations typically dominate the local ratings, they won’t tolerate a “lead-in” show that delivers fewer viewers and might create an opening for one of their competitors.
Here’s an indicator to watch for (from someone who worked in the broadcast salt mines until I had to good sense to join the U.S. military). If an afternoon talk show is tanking, many local stations will switch it to some ridiculous time slot (say, 2 am) until they can get out of the contract. And when one station makes a move, the others are sure to follow, particularly if they can find something that will deliver better numbers at a lower cost.
“Katie” may have been renewed for a second season, but Disney was probably contractually bound for two years of the program, and probably doesn’t want to write Couric a huge check and get nothing in return. Besides, they need a little time to line up something to replace her show, whether it’s another talk show, or extending their news blocs by another hour.
The most likely time for a change will be after the November ratings period, or sweeps. Some station group will decide they’re tired of paying a premium price for a show that doesn’t deliver, and they’ll banish Katie to an overnight slot. When that happens, the dam will break; other stations will follow suit, and the cancellation notice will be announced sometime in the spring.
After that, Katie will move back to “Today,” or take a seat on “Good Morning America.” Robin Roberts’ long-term health prognosis is uncertain, at best, and ABC figures it might as well get something for all those millions it invested in the Couric brand. Or, they can write another huge check and send her on her way.
And who replaces Couric in the afternoon? Well, there’s a certain former talk host who launched her own network, and it’s burning through money faster than a drunken sailor. And the media companies that helped finance the venture are getting tired of losing all that dough. So watch for Oprah to pull an Algore, sell her network to some sucker (Al Jazerra Daytime, anyone), and quietly return to daytime TV.
Remember: these are the same people that keep hiring Keith Olberman over and over again. In their thinking, Katie and Oprah are “proven talents,” who keep getting fatter paychecks for dwindling audiences.
My guess she has always been that way. I don’t know why the person that hired her didn’t see it. She is one of those that is untrustworthy and not promotable. Two reasons you should never hire a person.
I watch tnt and encore that’s about it!
How bout we replace ABC!!!!!!!!!!!!
How about not! Scandal and Revenge are on there.
