On Thursday’s broadcast of Fox News Channel’s “Your World with Neil Cavuto,” conservative talk show host Mark Levin reacted to recent revelations that the National Security Agency had been collecting the phone records of millions of Verizon customers. He said that the NSA news in addition to other openings for intrusion by the federal government are the makings of a “police state.”
MARK LEVIN: I tell you what I make of this — we have the elements of a police state here, and I’m not overstating it. When you step back and realize the Supreme Court the other day ruled 5-to-4 that law enforcement can take DNA from you even if you’re arrested — by the way, you’re arrested even when you’re stopped for a speeding ticket, and Scalia was right, concerned about a national database. That goes way over the line of our traditions.
You look at the Internal Revenue Service, what’s going on there today, and they collect extensive financial and personal information, and they put it on a database. This Obamacare is a massive data collection as well of our private personal medical conditions, procedures, drugs, mental, physical illnesses. The Transportation Department, people forget, has proposed black boxes in all of our automobiles to track how they function and how far they go in accidents. We now have domestic drones from EPA to make sure farmers aren’t stepping out of line.

Actually Mark, you're understating it.
But that's not what all this is about, is it? The government does not collect information so that they can help me. They collect information so that they can control me.
America no longer exists. And in large part, that is because too many people thought it would a "good idea" if their benevolent government got really involved and helped them.
IMO, this is the desired government endstate of all this data collection. Nothing good can come of it.

That’s why they wanted Obamacare so much. The sheeple would get nervous if their neighbors started showing up dead from various wetwork endeavors. This way the death panels will do the dirty job for them.
The only entity that knows all that information about you and is able to be benevolent is Jesus Christ.
Humans are not trustworthy with any of this.
And strangely, some on the far-fringe left are in 100% agreement with him this morning.
The bear trap may be about to spring on Mr. Obama.
I hope someone outside of the NSA is keeping track of the people who have been read into this.
They have been laying the ground for the police state for many years.
How much is once trustworthy agencies like DIA, CIA, NSA and the FBI under control of large corporate interests in bed with corrupt political forces?
And how many trustworthy people are still sticking it out inside?
I agree. The police state IS HERE. We are living under it. Just get stopped by a cop on a traffic stop and see what he starts asking you. Watch some of the new Cops shows. Watch the type of questioning they ask. FIRST thing they want to do is search your car. Honest people allow this because they have nothing to hide. But, WHY do they need to search every car they stop? Looking for ANYTHING to put you into the computer.
When you trade freedom for safety you have neither. The Patriot Act codified and legitimized practices (spying) that had been going on in one form or another since the country was founded. The intent of keeping us safe is good, the actual practice can be evil.
Since the catastrophe of January 20, 2009, we have been well beyond just "the elements of a police state".

Mark is a bit late to the party.
Govt: we are only going after the phone records to thwart terrorists, right? Just like we are only running the IRS to raise revenue?
I own this movie and have seen it numerous times. A classic!
Because when convenient for The State, whatever is or was on your computer will conveniently be made aware to a political opponent, the media, an opposition/advocacy group... or a prosecutor.
