A Brooklyn couple who hosted a radio show called "The Pursuit of Happiness" committed suicide together by putting plastic bags over their heads and inhaling helium.

Lynne Rosen and John Littig, who were found dead on a couch in the living room of their Park Slope apartment, left behind two notes, police said Wednesday.

“We’re going to do this together,” was the gist of Littig’s note, sources said.

Littig said, without explanation, that he could not watch his wife suffer any more.

“Her note basically said she was sorry for doing this,” a police source said. “We believe she had some psychological problems.”

Until their decomposing bodies were found Monday, the couple had been best known as the hosts of a self-help radio show on WBAI-FM.

I think this is the very definition of irony.

Not really. She was a psychotherapist, the empty religion of loonies. Watch the video at the link. Bizarre.

Very sad. Could have been a bit more considerate, though. Dropping a letter in the mailbox to the local police station would have saved a lot of cleanup.

The guy who wrote You Light Up My Life killed himself after being accused of raping 13 women???? Must have missed that story!

What a waste: Didn’t they know we’re running out of helium?

Actually, I’m wondering whether they had families. How do you have two people go a week without someone wondering where they are?

The weird part is that she must have worked as a psychotherapist, right?

Can you imagine finding out your therapist committed suicide?

Life without God is an empty existence of chasing smoke and ash leading to hopelessness.

Pray for America to Wake Up

Easy...when the core of the family is so dysfunctional keeping in touch never happens. If I died right now of a heart attack, it would likely be several weeks before anybody found me. And then it would only be because I never showed up to care for a clients pet.

Neighbors called police after hearing funny, squeaky voices coming from the apartment.

"You Light Up My Life"

Had to look this up. Joe Brooks could have afforded any number of SugarBabies, but he decided to do the casting couch scam.

From Wiki:

Police reported on May 22, 2011, that Brooks was found dead in his Upper East Side apartment by a friend.[8] There was a plastic bag over his head and a helium tank with an attached hose and a suicide note were found nearby.[9] Police officials would not discuss the contents of the note. On May 23, 2011, the medical examiner ruled that Brooks had committed suicide, citing asphyxia by helium

Must have been the inspiration.

Wow. I’m sorry. If I don’t hear from all three of my adult children at least two or three times a week, I worry. One of them I sometimes only learn about on Facebook but I know he’s with a lot of friends who are his local family and they all watch out for each other. My other two have their own small families. Mr. Mercat keeps an eye on me. That’s what family is for.

Hosts on the very liberal WBAI (the same station that got into trouble for airing Carlin’s 7 Dirty Words, heard by a father and son on the way to church IIRC)...
Sad they threw away their lives, but how do you think the fellow tenants felt when the smell of the decaying bodies started to waft around? Gee thanks...

Wow. Incredibly sad and tragic.

For those of you who don’t know, WBAI is a left-wing nutball station in New York, best known as the focus of a Supreme Court case for playing George Carlin’s “seven dirty words” routine on the air in the 1970’s.

Not just the stench: the super in the building kicked in the door once he noticed a foul red liquid seeping through the floor and dripping into the basement of the brownstone. That's got tot be one heck of a mess!
