I am not a police officer and have never worked in such a stressful environment to understand their thinking. With that said, I cannot comprehend a scenario with two officers present necessitating such force as to brutally beat a woman in the face to subdue her. The assaulting officer should be behind bars.

Many years ago I saw a similar confrontation at a bus stop between a woman who looked like she was mentally challenged and two police officers. I was across the street as they were beating the crap out of her. I shouted at them to stop it; they did for just a moment and yelled something at me that indicated that I was next.

This was before cell phones; I went to a pay phone and called the police and was connected by dispatch to a police sergent whose only interest was covering for his officers and started accusing me of criminally interfering with his officer’s work. I went home and told my parents about it. I believe that they complained to someone, but nothing was done.

I have never been in any trouble with the police, but the incident caused me to distrust the them. Even now when I work with them on a daily basis I still remember that many are capable of misusing their power.
