Some pundits questioned where the Tea Party was in 2012. I think we’re slowly learning the answer to that. They were audited, denied non-profit status, denied rally permits, and generally intimidated and bullied into silence.

Ok, I'm going to take the contrary view here.

The slate of questions in the article seem to point, clearly, to a concern about what kind of opposition the rally may draw.

I think it's entirely reasonable to ask for things like websites, twitter accounts, etc to be able to conduct a threat analysis based on whether a bunch of angry and violent liberals are challenging the rally organization.

Really, the way I'd read this is that the Cap Police don't have an issue with the Tea Party or the rally ... but are concerned about the potential reaction from the Left (anticipating that it'll be ... angry and violent) and want to properly prep for it. If anything it's an indictment of the Left (angry and violent), not of the Tea Party.

Remember that the Cap Police are Legislative Branch officers. They answer to a chain of command that runs up to the Speaker and the Senate Majority Leader, but which also includes ever member of Congress. If people want to know what's really going on, there are plenty of pro-Tea Party legislators in both Houses (Ted Cruz in the Senate and Michelle Bachmann in the House - she's still a sitting Member even though not running for reelection) to turn to for full information and possible intervention.

I was part of the Tea Party throng that marched on the Capitol on 9/12/09.
You know, we were all orderly, left no trash, pleasant, regular, good, patriotic folks.
Not to imply that this is endemic to all on the Capitol Police force, but I personally witnessed a Capitol Police officer making a jackass of himself just directing people where to walk that left a negative impression on me.

... I have a feeling that this administration if following the Cloward/Piven Strategy. It seems that they are now trying to facilitate and incite civil unrest to help strain the political relations as well as the countries resources even more.
