Sen. Marco Rubio said Tuesday that the immigration reform bill he is helping to usher through Congress does not have the votes to pass the Senate for now.
Mr. Rubio, Florida Republican, said the biggest hurdle in the push to fix the nations broken immigration system is how little confidence people have that the federal government will enforce the law.

Mr. Rubio said that people do not trust the Department of Homeland Security to come up with a plan to secure the border...

duh
The amnesty bill is DOA. Likewise Rubio’s presidential aspirations.
FUMR!!
I don’t have any confidence in Marco Rubio anymore.
A win for the citizens.
I saw a story yesterday that Rubio is looking for an escape hatch. He’s not going to find it.
‘Mr. Rubio, Florida Republican, said the biggest hurdle in the push to fix the nations broken immigration system is how little confidence people have that the federal government will enforce the law.’
Close, but not quite. The statement is true: people have no confidence that the feds will enforce the law. That is not the reason there is resistance to the bill. The bill is bad for the country, and contains no benefit whatsoever, only costs.
“Mr. Rubio, Florida Republican, said the biggest hurdle in the push to fix the nations broken immigration system is how little confidence people have that the federal government will enforce the law.
NO $He!T Sherlock! As we read dally accounts of the abuse from all agencies of this “governmint,” is there any wonder that the votes aren’t there? They would pass this travesty if they thought that they could get away with it, but they are all scared about their re-election prospects. As well they should be.
It d*mn well better not.
Period.
Meanwhile Rubio’s polling numbers among Republicans are dropping. I think all these commercials he’s running on Rush’s show and other talk radio are hurting him. No matter how often he says its not amnesty, people don’t believe it. All they are hearing is, “I’m Marco Rubio, and I’m trying to shove amnesty down your throat.”
Thank God!
Rubio must have a very gifted mind to have been able to figure that out.
Amen Jim. AMEN, another win for God and America!
No sensible person would expect the federal government to enforce new immigration laws anymore than they have enforced existing immigration laws.
Our immigration laws have not been properly enforced by any presidential administration since Reagan's - and even before that.
That has not entirely the fault of the executive branch as congress has refused to provide adequate funding and the courts have decided to ignore duly passed laws and to legislate from the bench.
You would think Rubio and others would have an understanding of this simple fact even before they agreed to let democrats use them for cover on this monstrosity of a bill.
It does if they “deem” it passed.
Then we kick out all of the illegal aliens.
Good
AMEN!
I hope this is true. But I’m so distrustful of these pro-amnesty GOP-E types, I can’t help but be wary that such messages are calculatedly being sent to tamp down any burgeoning groundswell of grassroots opposition. Then, they’ll spring out the monstrosity at the blink of an eye, during some summer holiday when people aren’t paying much attention.
Alleluiah!
