I think the point was that scouts was not a place to debate the pro’s and cons of the gay lifestyle. It was the place for young folks to learn about our outdoor heritage and service to God and country.

The new policy, which I have stated I think is a bad policy, is essentially a “don't ask, don't tell” policy. If a scout makes his gay lifestyle an issue in a troop, the troop has grounds to dismiss him same as if a boy scout harasses a girl venture scout. If all the scouts are respectful of each other, which would be in accordance with God's law, and no condoning of inappropriate behavior takes place, then the mission of service is arguably intact.

I think the real problem is that this was, as many have said, the Camels nose under the tent, and will lead to many legal problems down the road, as well as turning off good parents/volunteers either due to legal/liability concerns or because they believe they can not support the scouts anymore.

I have a daughter in Venture Scouts, I am taking her along with her crew to Philmont in a few weeks. As much as I disagree with the BSA’s new policy, I am not going to walk away from the opportunity to share that memory with my daughter.

FRegards,

I understand your position....but you realize the outing you share with your daughter now will later on be joined by those who will have sexual attraction for her...in what was once a “safe” area for girls to be girls.

Are you sure about this? Could you cite a reference?
