When NBC News granted Al Sharpton the honor of having a prime time news show on their cable outlet, MSNBC, they lauded his role as an "elder statesman" of the Democratic Party.
They named the show "Politics Nation" and positioned the nightly broadcast as a left-leaning political show focusing on national politics as a natural lead-in to "Hardball."
It was a well-orchestrated PR strategy to distance Sharpton from his controversial and odious past as a race-baiting advocate for proven liars Tawana Brawley and the antagonist in the Duke Lacrosse case.
The message was clear: Sharpton isn't the charlatan race-baiter you've grown to loathe; he's now a power player in the Democratic Party and is here to bring his unique, seasoned perspective to the national political conversation.
Oh what a difference a year makes.
These days, Politics Nation has turned into the Trayvon Martin Show as Sharpton goes right back to his roots as a sensationalist willing to advocate for any victim of a crime as long as they are the right race and the alleged perpetrator is white (or "white hispanic" in this case).
Friday night Sharpton had Trayvon Martin's family attorney on to discuss the George Zimmerman trial scheduled to begin in 10 days. Understand that Martin's attorney, Benjamin Crump, has no actual standing in this case as it is the state of Florida against Zimmerman in these criminal proceedings.
Nevertheless, Sharpton allowed Crump to lay out the state's case against Zimmerman with Sharpton cheering and participating in the multi-media opening and closing arguments. By the time the segment was done, Zimmerman was all but tried and convicted with the most inflammatory and defamatory language possible:

My guess is that NBC is trying to make sure Zimmerman is convicted. This could make it harder for Zimmerman to successfully sue NBC. This is the tactic of a sociopathic organization.
All four of his viewers already believe Zimmerman is guilty.

oh but he was just a child out buying ice tea and skittles. give me a break. the trayvon supporters are rabid in their support of the “victim”. I say, what difference does it make? maybe they should go to chicago and try to make a difference and save more “children”.
For the Sharpton hour....if they have more than 200,000 viewers across all of America watching him....I’d be surprised. They must have fifteen people coaching Al through each hour because he’s continually looking to the left or right of the screen. He’s a lousy news host, and they’d do better with some college kid hired off the street.

Last Dakotan offered a good point on another thread: if at some point Sharpton seems to be making less noise about this trial than he is now, we’ll know it’s going the way of the Duke Rape Hoax.
The state was hoping for a cooking down period. Sharpton won’t let that happen.

Are you suggesting that NBC is trying to influence a criminal trial in order to protect itself from a defamation suit, by committing more defamation? If I were to sit on the civil suit against NBC, NBC would owe roughly the national debt for it malfeasance and malice. Al Sharpton has already sold his soul, I find my self in an awkward position of wishing that Beelzebub would collect from Big Al promptly.
It sounds like all the evidence exculpating Zimmerman means nothing to frauds like Sharpton and the Martin family atts. They’re still going with the lying narrative that Zimmerman ran up to Martin and shot him down in cold blood. Watch for scores of riots in many cities if Zimmerman gets acquitted.
Come on, the trial is almost upon us. Obviously there are riots that need to be ginned up.
300 at most showed at the lie-fest yesterday while they were expecting 1000. I think it’s already gone downhill.

You could be right - not a lot of integrity over at NBC... They fired the guy who doctored the tapes, but that' probably because they got caught doing it...
