How much gun is too much in such a situation?

We’ve been in a cold Civil War for decades.

It will begin with vigilantism, it will progress to retaliation against law enforcement (who will attempt to clamp down on the vigilantes), and then all out violence will begin from all angles.

It will start small and snowball at an alarming pace, particularly if the economy is impacted in a significant manner, IMO.

The govt will likely start a civil war so they can declare martial law and take over. Well thats their dream. Everybody has one. :-)

They got it all wrong. It is supposed to be a pickup truck with a rebel flag in the rear window and the rednecks in the front and in the truck bed.

I have seen it in the movies and TV a million times. The only thing different is the VW passenger being armed.

Such situations are not uncommon. I was surprised when several women told me of similar events.

One had to slam on the brakes, turn off the car, run to the trunk, unlock the trunk, get the pistol out, get back in the car, start the car, endure a nasty game of “chicken” as the offending male came back at her, and wait until he turned around and again came up even with her.

She then pointed the pistol at him, he floored the accelerator, and she never saw him again.

Americans still have too much to lose at this point. Work, kids school/activities, retirement and so forth.

One day, Americans will feel uncle sugar’s crossed the line and they no longer have anything to lose.

The match will be thrown in the powder keg.

Hope not, but free people will not give up their freedom easily.

War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself.

John Stuart Mill - English economist & philosopher (1806 - 1873)

Had an 18 wheeler playing ride the bumper at hair raising speeds on a winding single lane road once. My cousin in the passenger seat pulled an Aussie 223 assault rifle out of the back seat we had just bought and feigned racking in a clip. That truck driver backed down to the speed limit and kept 100 foot behind us the rest of the way.

Not a shot fired, (nor a bullet to shoot in the car either). I found an armed populace to be a much more polite one.

Larcenous and destructivd flash mobs of “urban youths” will be increasingly met with resistance. It’ll ramp up and the resistors will be able to out-gun the thugs for the most part. This’ll spur the leftist politicians to more gun and ammunition control which, in turn, will ramp up more resistance. Perhaps a small town police department will be taken over and some scattered calls for secession will be heard as it begins to snowball.

Then it’s anyone’s guess.

"What do Sandy Hook Elementary, Aurora Colorado’s Century 16 theatre and Columbine have in common?"

Those neighborhoods are full of rich, animal-worshiping, environmentalist, anti-family, "progressive" members of two political parties. Arming government school employees of the aforementioned persuasions won't help, although privatizing all education might (with real men for security).

As for a "civil war" in this ragbag, couch potato population, I doubt it. We don't need one anyway. We need to de-fund and lay off all of the real slackers and troublemakers, then repeal all regulations against new, small manufacturing shops (especially zoning) and other private property rights.

It's pretty good -- however, to maximize accessibility it shouldn't be framed in a left/right, or Republican/Democrat**, or Conservative/Liberal* argument -- it needs to be said in a liberty/slavery, freemen/authoritarian argument... maybe even a patriot(country)/loyalist(institution) frame.

* Conservative can mean someone who wants to keep things the same; that would entail keeping the corruption and overreach that has been institutionalized.
** This one is really quite a doosey: if the Republican party were oppositional to the Democrat, then they would not be allowing what is going on -- the level of incompetence shown on investigating Fast and Furious (and all other scandals [Benghazi, IRS, EPA, Eligibility, etc]) is enough to indicate that the Republican party is not merely incompetent, but complicit.
