IRS may have targeted conservatives more broadly
McClatchy ^ | May 30, 2013 | David Lightman and Kevin G. Hall | McClatchy Washington Bureau

WASHINGTON A group of anti-abortion activists in Iowa had to promise the Internal Revenue Service it wouldn’t picket in front of Planned Parenthood.

Catherine Engelbrecht’s family and business in Texas were audited by the government after her voting-rights group sought tax-exempt status from the IRS.

Retired military veteran Mark Drabik of Nebraska became active in and donated to conservative causes, then found the IRS challenging his church donations.

While the developing scandal over the targeting of conservatives by the tax agency has largely focused to date on its scrutiny of groups with words such as “tea party” or “patriot” in their names, these examples suggest the government was looking at a broader array of conservative groups and perhaps individuals. Their collective experiences at a minimum could spread skepticism about the fairness of a powerful agency that should be above reproach and at worst could point to a secret political vendetta within the government against conservatives.

"may have"?.. One has to wonder if ALL government agencies had an edict from Obama to go after registered Republicans in general; EPA, TSA, DHS, SSA, etc.,

With regards to permit denials and fines, it's time to also investigate the EPA to see if there's a multi-agency practice here.

They targeted based on race.

A clear violation of the Act the DNC filibustered, The Civil Righst Act.

Obama is illegitimate.

The very fact the former Commissioner of the IRS visited the White House 157 times between September 2009 and January 2013 tells me somebody at the White House had considerable interest in using the IRS for political reasons....

All these stories spread out across the land.

I want to better appreciate the kindness and
integrity of our powerful friends on the left.
Somebody compile the stories into a book....and soon.
I want several copies as Christmas gifts for
my liberal friends. I want to see the movie.
Denzel, yes, Denzel does such a gooood bad guy.

I won’t hold my breathe waiting on the movie.

I thought "profiling" was illegal, yet the IRS is profiling and acting with malice aforethought against those they profile.

And on whose orders? Someone at the WH got lots of face time with key people to work out the details and then got a fully supportive and compliant union to carry out the plan.

Looks like their coup was a success. I wonder who our new masters are and how many stars will be on the new flag? Let me guess...57?

This is exactly how Marxist scumbag thugs take over a country. See Venezuela for a recent example.

I think that Dick Morris is on to something.

http://www.newsmax.com/Newsfront/morris-obama-irs-scandal/2013/05/30/id/507260?s=al&promo_code=13AD1-1

“The incredible frequency of the White House visits — essentially weekly — indicate that Obama must have been deeply involved with the inner workings of the audits and harassment of conservative groups,” Morris writes on his website.

Morris asks what other reason would have brought Schulman to the White House 157 times during the period that groups with “tea party,” “patriot” and other conservative buzzwords in their names were being targeted for extra scrutiny.

“Not ObamaCare. Not without having (Health and Human Services) Secretary Kathleen Sebelius in attendance, you wouldn’t,” Morris says. “About Treasury issues? Deficit reduction? Not without Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner.”

The reason, Morris says, is that Obama was following the IRS actions with an “obsessive, personal involvement.”

Why else would IRS Commissioner Douglas Schulman have visited the White House at least once a week?

While I don’t always agree with Dick he is spot on regarding the Shulman visits. Surely there is a log showing who Shulman met with on these visits or the purpose of his visits. You just don’t go there 157 times without somebody knowing what your business is that day. I am sure there is a written agenda for his trips if not then Dick is correct in that the visits were for working on targeting the Tea Party. I still think it involved Robert Bauer.

If even 80 of Shulman's visits were re:Obamacare, why would he say 'Easter Egg Roll' when asked what were the purpose of his visits? Wouldn't the first thought in his mind be 'Obamacare', not "Easter Egg Roll"?

Morris is right, as well as you and me. LOL

I agree I hope that our GOP Leadership is that smart to get to the bottom of this mess. It seems that sometimes there is a lack of inteligence in DC.
