“”Who doesn’t admire former Republican Senate Majority Leader Bob Dole?””

Not so much anymore

re: “Who doesn’t admire former Republican Senate Majority Leader Bob Dole?”

I appreciate and respect his service in the Armed Forces. Other than that, not very impressed. He always looked like a rino to me.

I think I’ll not comment.

"Therein lies the problem for some who stay in politics and government so long that it is easy to lose perspective and think cutting deals is more important than winning the argument."

Wow...Cal nails it again. That describes the entire entrenched, RINO, mushy moderate, go-along-to-get-along wing of the GOP.

Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!

Dole called the inability of modern government to solve America's problems "almost unreal."

Well, Bob Dole, I'd call it par for the course. In fact, Bob Dole, government creates far more problems than it solves.

I guess this fact has still eluded you, even after all these years.

Bob, you can go back to your nap, now.

To KS people Dole is like Graham is to the South Carolinians and McPain to the Arizonans.

[Art.] Second, Republicans have done a poor job of arguing their positions.

Bad rap. The conservatives especially have been getting resolutely, vigorously, even viciously "jammed" by expert propaganda scumbags working for the other side.

Don't believe me? Google up the New York magazine (not New Yorker) article on David Brock from 2011. Read it closely, and for comprehension. Fill in from your own memory the parts of the story the New York author -- screedist, really -- doesn't want to tell, but you know about, about how Brock wound up working for the Prince of Darkness.

No, Republicans are not tongue-tied. They're getting the crap beaten out of them with baseball bats by ruthless intellectual goons who've no more compassion or patriotism than Nicolo Machiavelli or the Borgias he admired. And they've got near-monopoly on communication in the country.
