Maybe the DOT can write their bosses a late note.
Commuters using the citys bike-share program on its first workday ran into a slew of technical problems and confusion that made them tardy for their jobs.
There were issues across the system, from Columbus Circle to Brooklyn Heights.

WHAT WORKS ON A COLLEGE CAMPUS WILL NOT WORK IN A CITY.......
Our local government got a fairly good size federal grant and used it to set up a similar Share-A-Bike program in the downtown area.
In less than three weeks the bikes were all stolen.
Local government officials said they were puzzled by the unexplained disappearance of the bikes.
The demographics of the downtown core and surrounding area are about 70% - 80% minority.
Are bicycles that expensive that people have the share them like beach condos?

Cars just do not belong in Manhattan
Houston has just set up some kind of bike share program. Yesterday I saw a group of about 3 bicyclers as they ran every stop sign and red light they came to. Rarely do I see a bicycler stop for either. Wonder why they get hit and killed or maimed?
Several years back I was in Houston over by the Medical Center.
Traffic was moving slow and some yo-yo on a bicycle was swerving in and out of traffic.
He cut right in front of me, and true to form hit a pothole and down he went.
My Dodge diesel went right over him. You could hear the crunch.
I stopped and got out of my truck just as one of Houston’s finest had got out of his car and ran up to the guy crunched up on the road.
After checking the guy out the cop pulled his gun and ran up to me sticking the gun up to my head screaming at me to get back in my truck.
I got in my truck, the cop still pointing his gun right at my head, when he said “That guy you ran over is a lawyer. He’s still breathing. Back up and get him again.”
In Tulsa there’s shared bikes along the Riverside bike path. Getting them requires a credit card for security, which isn’t charged as long the bike is returned. And they have only one gear. And they are pink. As far as I know, theft hasn’t been a problem.
I can just imagine the law suits against the city that are going to arise from this nonsensical program.
Bloomberg is demented.
I don’t think it’s about the expense. The idea was that, in an urban area, you might not want to haul a bike around all day long. You could ride it to a train station and then turn in back in, hop on the train, and get another bike when you get off the train to ride to your destination.
Watching NYC is just like watching the monkey enclosure at the zoo.
Anybody who decided they wanted to try this on the first day deserves all the problems they got. How dumb can a person be.
LOL! You had me going there for a minute. Good one!
Have there been many lawsuits against Boston, Washington, DC, or any of the other cities that have instituted similar programs?
