Leave Boy Scouts, pastor advises parents

Posted on May 28, 2013 | by Art Toalston

MARIETTA, Ga. (BP) -- Parents of Boy Scouts should remove their children from the organization, Atlanta-area pastor Ernest Easley advised in his Sunday sermon.

Troop 204's affiliation with Roswell Street Baptist Church also will end, Easley said.

"I never dreamed I'd have to stand up publicly and say to parents: Pull your kids out of the Boy Scouts," Easley told Baptist Press May 28.

"If you would have asked me that five years ago, 10 years ago, I would have laughed," Easley said. "And even as I was saying it Sunday morning, I thought, I cannot believe I'm having to address this and encourage parents to pull their children out of the Boy Scouts of America.

"Unbelievable."

The tie between Roswell Street Baptist Church and Troop 204 dates back to 1945.

> There are already demands that the BSA open up leadership positions to gays. Within a few years if not sooner, the ban on gay leaders will be dropped.

I can already see it....stock in Preparation H will go through the roof as the stuff literally flies off the shelf when this happens. LGBT groups are licking their lips in anticipation for the ban on gay scout leaders to be dropped.

Exactly, this is the ill that has perpetuated all these issues. People want to rationalize to keep from having to make a stand, “well in my area...” or “I know some people who are XX and they don’t bother anyone” or “but homo’s are funny”, or “it doesn’t affect us here in ...”. This is why we are where we are.

When does the actual shooting start? It has to be closer than farther at this point.

God says through the Prophet Isaiah:
Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter.

We are in a very bad place right now.

New York Council is already openly allowing gay, lesbian, etc. leaders.

As the conservatives quit, the liberal vote for any perversity will be there.

I see this as an opportunity for the Orthodox and conservative churches to reestablish their political clout in the US, and reform the BSA back to the path of righteousness in the process.

The BSA needs to feel a lot of pain right now, because cancer surgery is rarely painless. But in the long run, it is to the benefit of the patient.

And the Orthodox and conservative churches need to affirm that they do have enough power in the US to protect themselves from those that seek to destroy them. And they cannot do that by being passive.

It’s sheep or goats time.

What is it going to be, America - - - “Closeted Queers” or “Closeted Constitution”?

I think that decision was made at some point in the last decade, and it wasn't made in favor of the biblical condemnation of deviant "sexual orientation". In my 75 year lifetime queers and their disgusting practices have gone from illegality (is that a word?) to being one of the most politically and socially favored groups in US society.

According to Romans ch 1 Noah's flood was God's way of cleansing that ancient world from proponents and practitioners of that unGodly practice. Apparently every other human being on earth at that time, females included, were committing that disgusting sin and only Noah and his family had not become stained by that abomination. God showed His disapproval of that sinful deviancy all those many centuries ago, and He and His laws never change. I truly believe that the unprecedented showers of blessings that God poured out on our once great nation and it's people are rapidly coming to a disastrous end, and we brought it down on ourselves primarily by throwing God and His Word out of our schools and all public functions. Public approval for sexual deviancy is now added to that list of offenses against Him and His laws.

People want to rationalize to keep from having to make a stand, “well in my area...” or “I know some people who are XX and they don’t bother anyone”

You've mis-characterized what I said. I also don't appreciate how you've implied that I wouldn't take a stand against homo scout leaders escorting my sons on camping trips. As a volunteer leader I have communicated with local and national BSA leadership to express my strong opposition to gay scouts who will seek to be scout leaders. Are you in a leadership position in scouting? Do you volunteer?

As I said before, I know BSA's leadership will eventually cave and allow homos to be in charge of the post-pubescent boys that many of them seek. That's when most volunteers will leave and pull their kids out of scouting to keep them safe.

But let's not make our enemies 10 feet tall. Gays represent about 3% of the population. A vanishingly small portion of those that consider themselves gay are aged 6 to 18. Further, only a sliver of that would be interested in scouting and interested in proselytizing at the behest of their gay activist parent/guardian. The kids that I volunteer to lead are sponsored by our church, which opposes homosexuality and, frankly, a Cub Scout has little interest in sexuality at any rate.

I am absolutely convinced that this is the beginning of the end of scouting, and yes, I'm pissed off about it. But for now, the bottom line is that, unless you're in a homo-rich environment, your kids are more likely to get hit by a meteorite that get hit on by a fellow camper.

I agree with a lot of what you said! It saddens me too. In Utah, I don’t really think there will be a large problem, at least for now. Most scout troops and councils are run through the prominent churches. (both the Mormon church and R. Catholic churches and others are running scout programs)Most leaders (men and women in both org.s) are still pretty much conservative family people.

And like you said, most the volunteers are still family-church-faith oriented people. Oh Utah has it’s far-left freaks here and there. (especially Salt Lake City, strangely)And yes, I’m aware that even in the churches there are people who pretend to be upstanding members and are actually creepy in private! But for now, most scouting is still run and volunteered by fairly conservative concerned citizens and leaders.

In our Roman Catholic parish, one of our deacons runs the BS troops through the parish! We had a lady who once ran (and maybe still does) a GS troop through the parish. I don’t know what they’re going to do. They have scouts in uniform present at Sunday Mass services, and have their meetings there too! I’m wondering if some of the older scouts will be aware of anything going on when they are at camps. I’m hoping they(in parish and in other places) will be watching over the younger boys to make sure there is no funny business!

They might be even more aware now, and will assist the leaders in keeping their eyes on younger and other older boys to be sure things don’t happen! Many of them are older brothers who watch the younger ones anyway. That might go a long way to reassure the parents who are not able to be there!

I can respect your decision. But you may find yourself increasingly uncomfortable when Boy’s Life magazine, The Scout Manual and Merit badge booklets all begin to incorporate this new policy.

Yes, I was a scout. I was a den leader from Tigers up to Webelos for 5 years. I was also the Pack Leader for a 50+ boy pack.

Once you let the camel’s nose in the tent the whole camel will follow. The greatest mistake made was people (maybe not you) to take a stand no matter who small against these interlopers in all of our programs.

Churches running Boy Scout troops should advertize, saying,
“Gay youth welcome. Come learn the gospel of righteousness. “

If you wist to see some of the most vile filth (worse than DU) go to the BSA facebook page and watch the trash try to explain how this is a ‘fantastic’ change
