But the same folks don’t have a problem using food for fuel.
Obviously they’ve been drinking the GM kool aid for years already.
Monsanto.....or at least its friends, recently managed to have an outrageous rider slipped into the 587-page funding bill Congress sent to President Obama.
The rider essentially prohibits the Department of Agriculture from stopping production of any genetically engineered crop once its in the ground, even if there is evidence that it is harmful.
Thats a pre-emptive Congressional override of the judicial system, since it is the courts that are most likely to ask the U.S.D.A. to halt planting or harvest of a particular crop.
Chemical’s the new food group.
What does the nobility (Husseins, etc.) care? Apparently, when they’re not shoveling junk food into their troughs, they have their slaves prepare only organic food.
Amazing how the left has demonized Monsanto. There are scores, probably hundreds, of companies developing GM seeds around the world. Demonizing just one of them is classic Alinskyism in action.
I would have hoped that most people here would know better.
The same people favor the biggest federal government possible ... without which Monsanto, ADM and others would not exist because they get so many subsidies and favored tax status, exclusions from lawsuits, etc.
Monsanto has bought worldwide influence to prevent anyone from questioning them in a legal forum.
If they are so proud of their gmo crops, why are they afraid to label it in stores?
Let everyone who wants to eat gmo crops do so knowingly. Let everyone who wants to avoid eating gmo crops have the knowledge to do so. Seems fair.
Around here, an Amish farmer threw some gmo corn out by the edge of the woods and even the dear won’t eat it... If they don’t want it, I sure don’t.
I am very uncomfortable allowing increased centralization and control of food supplies by uber-corporations.
Food supplies like politics is best controlled at the local level.
I didn’t see any mention of the fact that the TeaParty was the original backer of this anti-Monsanto demonstration. I heard this because the local left, which has been opposing GMO foods for a long time, backed out of the local event when they found out that it was connected to the TeaParty.
It’s easy to demonstrate against GMO foods when you’re a low information luddite who has never been hungry a day in your life or watched family members die of starvation.
As it was, we were at a Corvette Car Show and they came by chanting "No More GTO's".

We have three branches of government:
Executive - the President
Legislative - the Congress
Judicial - the Courts
It is CLEARLY unconstitutional for Congress to pass legislation that takes away the power of the Courts. Even if you have no problem with GMO products whatsoever, the corporate merger between Monsanto and Federal Goverment should concern you.
I don't work for them, nor know anyone who does - but Safeway has an amazing organic line out. Most of it is specifically labelled as non-GMO. They basically have a non-GMO product to match every kind of Franken-food. And, the prices are great, plus lots of coupons.
I've tried some other supermarket organic brands (for instance, cereal) and they tasted like cardboard. Not Safeway's...
Control the means of food production and you control the people.
Many people currently have problems with the food source because of genetic modification accomplished through hybridization. Wheat has been modified to contain more protein, gluten. The potentially fatal ciliac syndrome is activated by gluten. And many people have a less serious but still debilitating gluten intolerance.
This is just one example I know of. I don’t want to wait to find out what GM food can do to us.
Monsanto is not my/our friend. We should have the right to know what is in our food, where it came from, and whether it was genetically modified. Monsanto and Obama and the legislators it owns in both Parties do not want the public to have their food labeled and identified so that consumers are informed and with an open and free market.
I support the protesters. This country needs more protest and less acquiescence.
I am not a Monsanto fan but one could argue that they have saved countless lives.
