Marshals working directly with students would have to keep their guns in a lockbox “within immediate reach,” according to the measure.

So, if a teacher leaves the classroom, they would NOT have their gun "within immediate reach.”

How is this going to work? Are there going to be boxes all over the school, all opened by the same key? What if someone loses the key? All those boxes are now unsecured.

Maybe the marshals will have to walk around with the lockbox hanging around their neck?

Lots of questions need to be answered.

Mr. or Mrs. So and So, what’s that box for??? Canwe see whats inside it??? PLEASEEEEEEEEE???

They will get a lot of that...There is no getting around that...

And I amsure that if that box ever did get out of the controlof a teacher or other staff, there are some pretty smart kids there that can open that sucker up in short order...

I have found it really ironic that weapons retention and concealment rereally worked better if you heel somewhere on your person...Not rely upon some box...

The kids are inquisitive, they will notice things, and the less you mess with the firearm and its container, the best...
