Sorry - didn’t mean to be cryptic. Jonrick46 mentioned in his post earlier on this thread http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/3023516/posts?page=11#11 about the theory that possibly there was a plan for a fake kidnapping and then it was to work out as a trade to release the “Blind Sheik”.

That theory has been discussed here on FR, but it seems from what I’ve been reading that the gun running theory described here in this article is much more plausible and there is a lot more evidence supporting it. If you are on Mesta’s ping list you’ve probably read a lot of the details of that.

This is National Review. Not yet breaking through to the MSM. When it does, they’ll replace it as if it was some big revelation, the Obama admin will treat it as if everyone knew this was the case all along.

Kabuki theater will be on full display.

I think the theory adds to the total picture. Why would there be a reduction in security at the consulate? The reduction was part of the plan to “kidnap” Stevens. There is the running of weapons to these rebels and the effort to get those weapons back. The way to enhance the weapons retrieval effort was the offer to have the “Blind Sheik” set free. Obama was to appear as the hero just in time for the elections. At the same time, he would give the radical Islams what they have long wanted, Omar Abdel Rahman. So, I give two videos:

I think both the weapons retrieval operations and the trade for Omar Abdel Rahman using the fake kidnapping of Stevens as part of the same equation.

Stevens’ mission in Benghazi was to buy back Stinger missiles (MANPADS) from al-Qaeda groups issued to them by the State Department to overthrow the Gaddafi regime “on the cheap.” In Libya there were 21,000 MANPADS lost. These are weapons that are very dangerous in the hands of these al-Qaida-led rebels. These are the advanced portable antiaircraft and antitank heat-seeking, shoulder-fired missiles. These weapons were being moved in through Turkey by US CIA operatives. Such weapons would have no problem taking down a passenger aircraft anyplace any time. Just the arming of al-Qaida-led rebels with these weapons is treason enough in my book.

It my theory that to sweeten the deal, they were going to throw in Omar Abdel Rahman to enhance the weapons buy-back program. These weapons were then going to the al-Qaida-led rebels in Syria. This complex script involved the fake kidnapping, the boost to Obama’s falling poll ratings and a phony blame of the internet for a poor video about Mo. It was a house of cards and I am hoping the whole thing falls down to get Zer0 out of office.

Amazing how the 20,000 missing MANIPADS story was so quickly pushed away from the news cycles...

This story was on the Drudge Report and it is being reported all over the web.

Pardon my skepticism.

On Drudge? I look at Drudge several times a day and don't recall this. "All over the web." Really? Got some credible links to back this up?

Note that in much of the coverage of Libya, “Stinger” has turned into a catch-all term for any shoulder-mounted anti-aircraft missile.

Anyone who calls Russian MANPADS "Stingers" is a MORON.

Anyone who repeats it without correction is an even BIGGER MORON. This is a really embarrasing article from National REview.

I can already hear the lies and cover ups when commercial airplanes start falling out of the sky

A dirty little secret is that MANPADS aren't particularly effective against commercial airliners; the warheads are too small. The majority of commercial airliners that have been hit with them have survived (and they have mostly been smaller aircraft in Africa.)

You mostly take out one engine and commercial airliners are designed to survive the loss of one engine.

Actually they're not particularly effective against anything other than helicopters.

Wouldn’t surprise me as Obama used the IRS to influence the election. But to corroborate this story would be nigh impossible, unless whistleblowers start to come forth with records and evidence.

It’s not like this regime has no experience in gun smuggling operations.

In fact they are ineffective against airliners not because of a size of a warhead which is sufficient to knock any engine but because of a short range. Manpads are simply short legged to catch up with aircraft cruising at 30,000 altitude.
Helicopters aren’t an easiest target which are actually a low flying fighter-bombers. Twin engine aircraft are less vulnerable as you can find on many videos from Chechen-Russian war on YouTube.
In fact commercial airliners might make good targets on departure as well. It is certainly not a best time to lose an engine.

I was looking at the Drudge on my noon hour and saw the story. I decided to look at it in more depth when I got home from work. When I went to the Drudge, it was gone. However, a simple google search had pages and pages of the story. Here is a sample and that is up to page 2 in Google:

It flies at Mach 2, reaches up above 10,000 feet, and the aircraft needn't be seen against empty sky for targeting. Also the Grinch needn't score a physical hit for detonation --it also comes equipped with proximity fusing, so if senses an impending bypass, it will still trigger. Also if there is remaining fuel, this, too, will be blown in the explosion as a kicker.
