He was born and raised in a Palstinain home whose parents professed Christianity, but people familiar with them at the time indicated that their family life was more akin to a muslim home. In addition he was schooled, and radicalized through Jordanian textbooks that demonized Jews as "animals," and called to "liberate" the Muslim holy places and Muslim lands. He said himself that he was inspired by a teacher who taught him about the Arab warrior Saladin.
So he may have been born into a Christian home...one that apparently operated very similarly to a Muslim home at the time...but he IMHO he was radicalized by Islamics teachings and ended up acting out those teachings just like an Islamic terrorist.
As to the Pan Am flight, there just isn't much information on it, except the historical note written by the wife of the captain who said the hijacker was a North Vietnamese sympathiser...which I do not doubt, but we know nothing else about him. I am going to remove that one from the list on my page, put a note in there about Sirhan Sirhan, and change the date of the Cairo one.
Thanks for the input!
No problem. I think a lot of what happened in the late ‘60s/early 70’s, was more politically driven than religious, like Black September. It seems to have taken a more religious turn, when the leadership started changing and realized they could get more support using religion than politics.
Don’t forget about the BLACKWATER Bridge incident.... or Nick Berg, who had the misfortune of starring in a video being decapitated.........both caused by - muslim males.
