As I have opinted out numerous times, British classification of violent crime skews how ‘violent’ the UK is. The fact is that we have a fraction of the gun crime, gun murder and murder of the US. One fifth the size but levels of some violent crime are one-sixteenth.
The UK rise remember comes from a level of near-zero, which is why the UK was considered perhaps the safest place on earth at one time and the British bobby didnt need anything but his trusty truncheon.
Yes, the UK has got more violent, but is still a safe/very safe nation. I am sure the many Americans who live here would tell you that.
I am not all that familiar with British or UK crime statistics but I read an article recently which said their rate of occupied home burglaries is many times worse than in the U.S.
I don’t know what they are but some other types of crime were greater than here.

There are almost exactly five times as many people in the US as in the UK 314 million vs. 63 million.
The violent crime rate in the UK is 3,100 per 100,000, and in the US it is 380 per 100,000 population.
For some reason, Piers Morgan doesnt talk about this.
