I’m in Malta right now, and last night saw a really curious thing. A group of Maltese youts were chasing and pelting some layabout members of the ROP with bottles, rocks and trash. It got kinda ugly, until the Polizija stepped in. I had no idea why.

Normally, the Maltese are polite and fairly reserved, but then, after reading the news, it struck me: having been benovolently ruled for 150 years and defended during WW2 by the Brits, they were incensed and took sides.

If I’m right, more power to them.

Good to hear. A daughter of a family friend spent the summer touring Europe on some kind of educational study program. She liked the Maltese the best of all the natives they encountered and gave honorable mention to the Scots.

She didn't much care for the French.
