The man is truly impressive...
He focuses like a laser beam on the witness and they know there’s no rock they can hide under...
Love him!

"How do you invoke the protection against self-incrimination if you “didn’t do anything wrong”? What’s to incriminate?"

Exactly. The key word is SELF-incrimination in the 5th amendment.

The 5th amendment does NOT say "I can refuse to answer any questions at all".

That's "contempt" in any courtroom.

Sheesh, this stuff came up on Perry Mason in the '50s all the time.

How many coutroom shows feature the judge saying: "The witness WILL answer the question!".

It would make for pretty boring TV, if the witness just said: "I don't feel like it, judge."

"Uh, ok I guess the trial is over."

Krauthammer just said Issa was weak on the 5th issue and didn’t look good. Gowdy just needs to take over. I don’t trust that Issa will get the job done after the F & F hearings.

Congress can’t fire her because she is Civil Service employee. Executive branch can put her on administrative leave. Bill Kristol on fox tonight said, Issa should call all of her subordinates have them testify, then bring Lerner back in. Also said it was prob good Issa dismissed her because now she doesn’t know what questions would be asked....

Trey nailed it..and a special prosecutor is a must..not if.

Ever see “Law-abiding Citizen”? I want a prosecutor that can state it as well as Clyde in this scene.

Can we draft this guy to replace Lindsay Graham?

I've been thinking about that. None of the folks that have currently announced against Linda can hold a candle to Trey.

But I think Trey is happy where he is.

He does, and he will.

they are doing a good job to avoid being “partisan” in what is a partisan scandal..it plays better with the average American to have the Dems go all hysterical at the IRS too.

Can somebody that had the privilege of watching this live tell me if Gowdy was the first to mention that Lerner could not take the Fifth?

I ask as this Politico story makes it sound like Issa called it first.

“....But I think Trey is happy where he is.”
*******************************************************************
And he is being very effective in the House. It would be great to see young, smart, savie, principled folks such as Trey Gowdy move up into the leadership.

The current crop of “leaders” of the Republican caucus are stupid, cowardly and easily “rolled”. It will be good to see them gone.
