Forgive my ignorance but exactly what arrest or other law enforcement authority does DHS legally have? They like to run around in uniforms and arms but where and what does their “power” (real or perceived) actually come from? Cause I’m not seeing it.

I've been saying for quite a while - their power comes from their ability to use force, not from any legitimate authority like the Constitution or the consent of the governed.

They are thugs. Plain and simple.

DHS has prescribed in their training manuals to be cautious about potential domestic terrorists. That includes anyone in the TEA party, and particularly, anyone critical of the federal government. DHS is on guard.

With Janet at the helm they are that "well funded, well trained, well armed, etc army that obama said we would have that was outside of the military chain of command.

This is just one of the changes obama said he would bring..... and it all is coming true in the this in JUST the second term.....

Ask Congress and I doubt they know either. Enforcement extensions of the Government should
be lead by elected officials. I have no idea myself who in elected office can be held
responsible for the actions of the DHS directly.

IMO, the GOP are allowing them because one day they'll have their turn to have the
biggest ego in the oval office. I'm not kidding.
