<I cant recall many times when children have been in hurt in schools by a tornado

My son attended kindergarten in Norman. They had tornado drills, even back 30 years ago.

When we moved out of the area, the first time my son heard the civil defense siren he was outside and ran into the house (with his bicycle), afraid a tornado was coming. They must really instill the importance of taking shelter ‘cause he was totally freaked out.

Sadly - it depends on the tornado - and this was apparently a HUGE one. The pictures from the helicopter shows what appear to be 18+ inch wide steel support I-beams bent like pretzels - only a few heavy (likely reinforced) concrete walls standing.

I post this because when they widen up the camera angle you can see that the houses nearby are simply wiped slick to their foundadtions - so to be fair - the school was probably the strongest structure in the close vicinity...but if you can't get underground or away from a mile wide F4/F5...you are in trouble.

Prayers for all involved - especially the kids.
