they knew a tornado was coming, how come the school wasn’t evacuated?

The thing with tornado outbreaks like this is that you don’t know if or exactly when or where they will strike or what exact place they will touch down or in exactly what direction they will go. The entire state of OK is under the gun, where would you evacuate the school to? Evacuating a school probably takes more time and is more dangerous than sheltering. I would think that most schools in that part of the country are a better place to ride out a storm than in a house or trailer home.

Perhaps the one saving grace is that if Moore is a bedroom community, most were not in their homes when it hit.

Imagine if this hit at night when people would be home.

Your right..I guess compared to being at home or in a car a structure like a school would be the safest place. They showed the movie theater in Moore and it doesn’t look damaged at all, yet the school was destroyed..with tornadoes its the luck of the draw, one place doesn’t have a scratch while the other place can be completely destroyed
