Y'know ... I think before we can have an intelligent conversation about taxes and tax reform/elimination .. we should first determine ... what are taxes FOR, anyway?

I would submit the military, the diplomatic corp, our elected leader’s salaries and costs related to the execution of their duties. I do believe there would be justifiable costs to run certain departments. I also believe those could be parred down considerably.
If our citizens were allowed to keep most of their money, we couldn’t find enough people to fill all the private sector jobs that would open up.
