Top Japanese chef Miki Nozawa has died after apparently being attacked by two German men who were unhappy with the fried noodles from his restaurant on the North Sea island of Sylt.
The men, aged 36 and 50 are thought to have beaten 57-year-old Nozawa to death outside a strip club on the upmarket holiday island, Süddeutsche Zeitung reported on Thursday.
Earlier in the evening the pair had eaten Nozawa's beef, vegetable and fried noodle dish, which they disliked and refused to pay for. They left his restaurant and headed to a nearby strip club, where they bumped into the chef.
Nozawa recognized them and insisted both give him €10 – a request that was not met well and as the argument escalated the trio went outside. It was allegedly there that the two handymen beat the chef so badly he had to be taken to hospital.
He died on Tuesday as a result of his injuries, Ulrike Stahlmann-Liebelt, state prosecutor from the nearby city of Flensburg, confirmed. She would not say whether reports that the men beat him until his entire left side was, as the Bild newspaper said, “one big purple bruise,” were true.
She did say that they were likely both drunk, and that they were yet to be tracked down by police.
Nozawa was an internationally renowned chef, famed for his Italian-Japanese fusion cuisine, which he has cooked for Michael Gorbachev, Denzel Washington and Phil Collins, among others.
Before he opened a low-key Asian restaurant on Sylt, a popular upmarket German holiday destination, he worked at Flavio Briatores “Billionaire” restaurant on Sardinia.
Not pleasant unless you are really into cellulite, unshaven nether regions, unshaven everything, bad body odor, strange hair-dos circa 1985, sagging butts, Euro teeth replete with yellow-ness and snaggle-ness, cigarettes hanging from the corners of the mouth...possibly, even, nudity except for black socks and sandals.
Probably because the nude beaches are for ugly naked people....probably why they need strip clubs
Grew up going to Helen Ga several times a year and the Bavarian restaurants there are so good.
I remember finding that Wiener Schnitzel wasn’t a wiener at all, but delicious roast pork with gravy over red skinned (skins still in) mashed potatoes. Argh.... so good!

German vacationers already have a pretty bad reputation at most European hotspots, and the Danes find them particularly offensive. Sylt is right on the Danish border, so I imagine this will drive the image of the Ugly German even lower.

I hear that the best men are American, the worst - Arab. Best women are Japanese and the worst - well, we won't say. That said, your comment's right on. Germans would be the best engineers and English the best inventors. And yeah, I've had great German food too... :)
What a waste of a life, for 20 Euros from unhappy diners no longer even at his restaurant. Rest in peace. I’m sure your creativity and talents will be missed.
