Houston group among those targeted by IRS? (True The Vote)
KTRK Houston ^ | 05/14/2013 | Ted Oberg

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Last week, the IRS admitted it targeted groups with Tea Party or patriot in their name for extra scrutiny. The groups were applying for tax exempt status. True the Vote is one group based here in Houston.

True the Vote was the subject of harsh critique during the election season for some of their polling place monitoring work. Critics said it was designed to hurt Democratic candidates. It may be one of the things the IRS was looking at to keep the group from being tax exempt. But after three years of intense IRS questioning and investigations from other agencies, the Houston group can't get an answer.

Englebrecht says her personal taxes were audited at the same time for the first time. And on the very day she got that lengthy questionnaire from the IRS, her business got its first visit from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives in decades. Just months later, it received a visit from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.

3 years of investigation of patriotic Americans yet even with foreign intelligence assistance, this administration cut loose Islamists training abroad for domestic terrorist attacks in Boston (and elsewhere?).

Obviously, Obama communicated his priorities clearly.

As this article points out, the IRS is not the only oppressive government agency involved in threatening freedom of speech and freedom of association. The EPA has been involved, along with the ATF, OSHA and the Labor Dept. Every one of the heads of these offending agencies ought to answer these allegations under oath in congressional hearings. They should be tried, convicted and jailed.

If getting a date wrong in his FBI testimony landed Scooter Libby in prison for 2 1/2 years, this flagrant breaking of the law should get them at least 5-10 years.
That might slow the intimidation of Big Government in the lives of its citizens.

The excuse floated in Boston was that in response to “excessive” investigation during the so-called “Red Scare”, agencies are restricted from heavy surveillance/files/harassment, etc. BULLSTALIN.

All of those agencies, without due process, can seize assets and your freedom, until you can lawyer your way out of it. And they have for all practical purposes, infinite resources to fight against you.

This should not be. This cannot stand.

I've said this before on FR.... America eventually will collapse under the weight of its own bureaucracy. We may be watching it, right now.

AND .... While FReepers would like to imagine that Heavily Armed Gov't Thugs Dressed in Black will 'come for their guns' one day, and they'll go out in a hail of lead shouting 'You'll NEVER get me ALIVE!!!" .... this thread is more the reality. The people they really need to worry about are ones like the nice, older lady in HR who brings in cookies for everyone on alternate Fridays..... "Just be a dear, and sign this one form so that we can all go home early. Everyone else has done it..."

Bureaucracy grinds slowly, but it does grind and doesn't stop. How long before - for instance - the subject of this article just says "To Heck With This!" and finds better things to do with their time?

Then, multiply by thousands of small business owners. How long will it take?

It occurs to me that our names could be on any of these lists the IRS was asking for. I volunteered with True the Vote and dang, this is just such horse manure!

Man, this is sounding like,

“Are you or have you ever been a member of the Tea Party or any Constitutionalist organization?”

The IRS was even seeking the names of persons who were trained/educated by conservative outreach groups.
