Perhaps this is part of a spin that goes something like:

“The White House would benefit from releasing all Benghazi emails, but they can’t do that because it would compromise too many top secret intelligence operation details that would cause great harm to our brave sources, operatives and allies.”

The point being that the White House is so concerned with the welfare of others that it will hold the emails in confidence even though if released it would become instantly obvious that the administration has done nothing wrong.

I can easily see Obama’s team taking this position as an excuse for stonewalling the release of the emails.

Keep in mind that Axelrod is almost certainly a double agent in his capacity at MSNBC. He knows what they consider important, and he must know that the emails aren’t that particular flavor of red meat. Emails released, no smoking gun as far as the press is concerned, Obama cleared, right-wing shown to be overreaching, done.
