I think the AG normally appoints an independent investigator to investigate issues where the executive branch itself has been accused of wrong-doing. Holder should have appointed an independent federal investigator for Fast and Furious, Benghazi, SEAL Team 6, the release of Alharbi after the Boston bombing, and the birth certificate and selective service forgeries. And now AP and IRS as well.
To be truthful, Holder is smack dab in the middle of all the corruption. The only way to have somebody who doesn’t have to recuse himself is if Holder is booted out of office and replaced.
Now it becomes clear why team 0bama came out with the AP phone records scandal.. Because it’s NOT a scandal and had to be done in order to stop a terrorist attack!! Pretty clever 0bama.. It’s not a scandal after all. STOP IT with your scandal madness, Republicans!! No big deal, see? /s
It’s obvious Holder did not obtain a warrant for this. If he had, there would be no cause for an investigation. And no warrant means Holder broke the law. No way he survives this, even with a sycophantic press trying to bail him out.

I agree. He’s trying to dump it on an underling, but regardless of who signed it, a judge would have had to order it, and there’s no evidence one ever did so.
I wouldn’t be surprised if he flees the country, though. He knows he’s in big trouble, and in addition, though this was probably worked out with and approved by Obama and Jarrett, he knows that Obama is going to throw him under the bus.
Yeah, it's about time for Congress to appoint a special/independent prosecutor to be appointed to investigate this.
