Even with CCW, I still I have some rules:
1. Stay out of dangerous areas especially when the family is with me.
2. Avoid confrontation and certainly escalation.
3. If #1 and #2 fail, and life/safety is at stake, attack, evade and escape to call 911.

Your Rule 3 is irrelevant, immaterial and hardly germane. Given the preponderance of force (outnumbered), imposition of serious injury, reasonable fear of death - the daughter should have exited the vehicle with her shottie chambered, once on her feet and hostiles identified, the safety off goes off and her trigger finger is inserted into the trigger guard.
