I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Courts, politicians, writers etc. turned employed pretzel logic defending the indefensible when it came to slavery in the 1800s. Eventually the institution fell as much of its own unsupportable weight (although CWI had a lot to do with it as well). You got the exact same thing going on here. Dred Scott wasn’t a person so he had to be returned to his owner. Gosnell was killing “fetuses”. No real difference here.

So - given that - I wonder why we don’t spend more time equating abortion to slavery - as in both denied personhood to people who were clearly people and both saw implausible contortionist logic to preserve the fiction.
