There is nothing wrong with the word Negro. When, how & why it became considered a slur is something I can never grasp.

If yours was a serious question, and at the risk of being obvious, here's my serious answer. The word Negro, simply meaning black in Spanish and innocuous itself, finally [it took a while] came into disfavor because long ago a corruption of it resulted in the demeaning word "Nigger."

I still just call them colored people, as per the association who represents them, the NAACP.
