Chris Hayes' 'Easy' Solution To Poverty: Give People Money!
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Posted on 05/12/2013 11:13:18 AM PDT by governsleastgovernsbest

Chris Hayes is a leading light in MSNBC's brain trust. The network casts him as a serious intellectual bringing serious solutions to America's problems.

Which makes his simplistic and manifestly mistaken proposal that much more maddening. Making a peek-a-boo video-clip appearance on today's Melissa Harris-Perry's show, which focused on finding solutions to poverty in America, Hayes was seen holding up a hand-written sign with his solution, reading "Giving people money: It's actually that easy."

View the video here.

Better solution - sterilize the poor.

Bring back US jobs from China.

That would be a better alternative...

I remember thinking that as a young, very naive kid. That you could just cut the fat from defense and give it to the so-called “poor” and everything would turn out just rosy.

Give people money, and detract from the sense of its value.

Even if they did it...history has shown that within only a few years all the wealth would be right back where it began. Totally moronic.

If they had taken the stimulus, and divvied it out to the taxpayers, it would have done more good than giving it to banks and the auto industry.

Bring back US jobs from China.

WON'T WORK. The majority of those on the dole don't have any inclination or reason to work. The sit around all day either drunk, high, watching TV, working on getting mo dependent chillin, or playing scratch off lotto or a combination of the aforementioned. Why work when 0bama will rob your hardworking fellow taxpayers to buy your vote?

And there are more white folks on welfare than blacks - about 52% to 48%,(of course blacks are only 13% of the population...)

I tend to agree more with your view.
We’d have to slash entitlement benefits AND generate jobs.

Right now far too many have little interest in working because the govt (often combined with some black market biz) provides a comfortable living.

It has to work.

We are currently on an unsustainable path. We borrow money, ever more money - and give part of it to several tens of millions of Americans who do not have jobs.

So we have to borrow more money. Then we send more jobs overseas.

Bring back American jobs.

Then we can pay for things.

What does Chris consider it to be when somebody takes money at gunpoint from somebody to give it to somebody else?
