Dropping of “gay” characters is a sign they are ready to move on to their next advocacy: child molesters.
This will take longer, but these folks are experts at mass psychology.
They will start out with an appealing older guy of the “weird uncle” type. He will get in a bit of trouble but the kids and the community will rally around him. He will claim that he is only trying to help the kids, and the kids will say they love to be with the guy. That will make people more sympathetic. after all, what harm does it do? And so on and so on...
In 10 years, there will be all kinds of these creeps in the media.

I fully expect a show on either HBO, Showtime or Cinemax to put one up in the next 2 years.
Some of their existing shows are already portraying children as “gay” or “transgendered”. So they are working on it.
