I fished with my son-in-law and three other friends. We did charter and our captain was Capt. Steve Lamp of Dreamcatcher Charters. He loves to fish andis a former coastie and Marine. He and his wife Gen run a really well managed charter operation with 6 boats and links to charter almost anywhere. We fished near the Dry tortugas initially behind shrimp boats where Blackfin Tuna, Bonito and other fish roam looking for shrimp boat trawl “trash” which is swept off the deck by deckhands and act as chum. We did good and had two nice bonito from 10-15 lbs. which we used for bait. I got a 26 lbs Blackfin Tuna on 15 lb. spin and another guy had a smaller 16 lb. Blackfin also on artificial.
It was a ball.

Later we bottom fished and caught a couple of dozen grouper and lost a few big boys. Lamp describe the trip as poor but none of us were disappointed. Its along trip and he only has the 32 with twin 300’s a few more weeks before he switches to all 22 foot center console skiffs with 300 hp mercs. If you haven’t gone 55 mph on the water hanging on for dear life its a ball even at my age!! right now the hot bite off Key West is tarpon.Fish from 50-200 lbs. are being caught ever day and its a real blast.

thanks very helpful. have always wanted to fish Dry Tortugas, and this looks like a very viable option.
