Your post should bring you and the historical knowledge you possess to the attention of every talk and opinion show in America..This word needs to be taken to the hiways and biways of America where the people are not paying attention to what is going on and do not understand the complexity of it when they do hear about it. I was aghast when a news reporter went onto the streets of New York last week to see whether a group of college age people knew anything about the scandals and crises we are in. One guy, who was a CA-Berkley student didn’t even know who the Vice President is. What is going to happen to these ignorant youths who occupy the Ivy Leagues when the truth finally hits home to them? Movie producers should be making film right now about how authoritarian states come into power and what lies in store for the common people when they do. The parallels from those regimes and our government as we speak here should be highlighted and explained in terms people can understand. And, you immigrants, you had better learn who you are voting for..Do you want a government even worse than the one you escaped from when you came to America to have a better life?
Americans welcome those who love and want to live in freedom..You are valued here if you want to work hard to learn all you can, take care of your family and help your neighbors and those who are less fortunate and to rise up to make something great of your life. You do not do that through those who want to destroy America and the values which made her great. Learn what those values were and are! However, if you look to government to supply you with what you are not willing to work for, then your good fortune will not last and you will find America not a nice place to be.
I know that I am not the only American mourning for my country this weekend as I go to the cemetaries near me to honor family, friends and others who sacrificed so much so that we could, hopefully, live in freedom. Instead, we have rejected and besmirched their values so that we could destroy ourselves through decadence, corruption and ignorance. That was not what they envisioned when they lived on a shoestring to give us a better life, when they took us to church and taught us early how to take on responsibility, when they taught us that we had to EARN success and that failure is often the stepping stone to that success. They gave us an example through their own behavior of how to love our neighbors. They showed us that we are not the prettiest thing on the block and that we should learn the lessons of the past in order not to repeat them. We learn reading, writing and arithmetic and HISTORY in school and everyone respected our right to worship as we pleased. We did not have to bow the knee to anyone’s sexual preference because all sexual activity was supposed to be in the closet, unless a child was being abused or someone was raped. Anyone who has watched the few respected lawmakers, both Liberals (not the Socialists among us) and Conservatives, and the few honest journalists still around, who have pulled together in a bi-partisan way to express their shock at the boldness of the corruption, have to be frustrated about what is so clear concerning Benghazi, the IRS thuggery, and the strong effort to persecute journalists who are seeking only the facts of a story. If this is not an effort to establish an authoritarian state, what is it?? I think many citizens out here will feel relief only when the guilty go to jail. Time will tell whether that will happen and whether the person or persons sent will be the scapegoat instead of the guilty party. If no one is sent to jail over this, then you can know that our worst fears have come to pass. We are in an Authoritarian State and what that means for those of us who do not want it we will learn over time. Are we willing to die for our country like so many who proceeded us? That is the question all of us need to ponder on this Memorial Weekend. I know in this world of texting my humble opinion will hardly be read or noticed but these are my concerns for us all and I believe I have lots of company.
