Even with Republicans holding unprecedented political power across the South, Democrats remain mostly in charge of urban centers in otherwise conservative states. Yet increasingly that control is threatened, not at the ballot box, but by Republican-led legislatures reaching into local governing decisions, often over objections.
In Georgia and North Carolina, GOP efforts range from regionalizing the Charlotte airport, the Atlanta metro transit system and the Asheville water system to redrawing district lines for local offices to benefit Republican candidates.
Republicans insist theres no power play at work as they do battle with Democrats such as Charlotte Mayor Antony Foxx, who is now President Barack Obamas nominee to be U.S. transportation secretary, and the board of commissioners in Georgias most populous county, which includes most of Atlanta. Georgia state Rep. Edward Lindsey, a key GOP floor leader and a candidate for Congress, said the ideas are intended to make government more responsive and efficient.

The democrats would do the same thing (and more!) if the situation was reversed.
2. State, and most importantly, federal taxes and regulations continue unabated.
3. Power moves inexorably away from the local level toward the state and federal level.
The Republicans win many battles, but the Democrats win the war.
For example, in California we have Prop 13 which essentially made local elections irrelevant and moved all of the taxing and regulation authority to the state.
In the short term it sounded like a great idea, but in the long run it has worked to the Democrats' advantage.
They do. I live in the State of Washington.
Democrats are using the statehouse in Olympia, trying to cram their agendas down the throats of conservatives state-wide.
Same in the State of Oregon.
What most people outside of the Pacific Northwest don’t know is the majority of both states are independents. Our state governments are controlled by the major metropolises where elections fraud is rampant.

It should be no surprise that the scumbags howl when Republicans extract these kinds of things from the clutches of corrupt "urban" politicians who see them as nothing more than "employers" for no-show friends, relatives, campaign donors, and assorted "connected" sleazebags, as well as a source for a never-ending supply of juicy contracts for friendly unions.
Good. Smash their faces in, with the same hardball tactics they’ve used on us since the Wilson administration. The days of milquetoast collegiality are as dead as the dodo. We are engaged in a war for the salvation of the Republic, and it’s time we started behaving accordingly.
I would just love to see Atlanta airport snatched from the clutches of the city of atl thus ending all the cronie hiring that is so apparent.Next time you are in the atl airport just take a moment to notice.

Tell me about it. Of all the airports in the country and I’ve been in most of them the worst one that I hate to fly through is in my own state. Not that we fly anymore. The last time about 2 years ago Mr. GG2 almost clocked one of those idiots for trying to manhandle him in some random patdown. That was it for us.
One of obamsters brownshirt wannabe types is my guess.
Switch to counting electoral Votes by Congressional District to gut the power of the cities to throw the states to the Democrats.
