Ancestry.com is not used by a lot of creditable hertitory societies...

Societies instruction potential members not to submit the pages from Ancestory.com...they will not be accepted..

much of the info is not sourced or documented and there is little oversight and correction of errors...

When told of errors they refuse to change their records...

Personally I have never used their pages...

I havent neeeded to...

there are too many other ways of gathering info on ancestors that are more reliable....

Plus speaking of the census one of my family lines (grandfather, father, son) is listed in a Sept 1698 census for New Rochelle, NY 150 years before Joe Smith invented his new Mormon religion...

I got a copy from the New York Historical Society library...
