MILLER: Hey Piers Morgan, learn about gun safety before popping off
The Washington Times ^ | 6 May, 2013 | Emily Miller

Posted on 05/08/2013 6:01:06 AM PDT by marktwain

Piers Morgan is leading the liberal media and Hollywood in another ignorant attack of the National Rifle Association (NRA).

The CNN host tweeted Sunday: “Just when you thought the @NRA couldn’t get any dumber or more dangerous” and linked to a story in Huffington Post titled “NRA Convention Speaker Rob Pincus Advises Keeping Gun Safes In Kids’ Bedrooms For Home Defense.” The story shows a video secretly taken by liberal blog Think Progress of one of the nation’s leading self-defense experts explaining why that can be a good idea.

The left was quick to jump all over the home-protection advice to insinuate the gun-rights organization was promoting risky behavior with children and firearms. They linked the comments to the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting because Adam Lanza had access to weapons in the gun safe in his bedroom. According to search warrants, the 20-year-old did not break into the safe.

Actress Bette Midler ‏tweeted: “@NRA Speaker Rob Pincus Says to Keep Gun Safes In Kids’ Bedrooms. NRA Speaker Pincus is an idiot. NRA stands for No Reasoning Allowed.” The liberal media went into overdrive. MSNBC blasted: “NRA speaker advocates keeping guns in kids’ bedrooms.” The New York Daily News headline was: “YOU’RE KIDDING! NRA pushes guns on kids as young as Newtown victims in sick ‘Youth Da.’”

Mr. Pincus does not work for the NRA. He was one of many speakers at seminars taught at the annual meeting in Houston over the weekend. The video was from Mr. Pincus’s course “Home Defense Concepts.”

The problem with the left is that they are wilfully ignorant. They do not want their worldview challanged.

The problem for Constitutionalists is that they control most of the media.

The problem for Constitutionalists is that they (the statists, progressives, the left) control most of the media.

I have often wonder why we cede the media to the left. Is there no talent on the conservative side to produce a weekly television program about the history, traditions and values of America? We don’t have screenwriters, directors, camera crews, lighting, makeup and other people that could do this? We can’t raise the production funds to do it? Not for just 30 minutes a week?

This was a quote clearly taken out of context. In context it makes perfect sense. The reporter knew what he was doing.

Shamefully this is becoming all too common in our media today.

When I was a little kid, I didn’t have a gun safe. But I did have a .22 lever action in the closet, with ammo! Never shot anybody or anything. Imagine that. I was properly trained by DAD on how to shoot. No gubment safety program. No NRA program just D.A.D. I guess we all should have been in prison. But it’s not too late. Dad is still around. We could all be rounded up and punished. This is America after all. We love to put people in jail.

My kids have been trained by D.A.D. I will not divulge the security arrangements on 5th Amendment grounds. But since the right to not self incriminate flows from the good graces of the State, I will have to check to see if we still have that privilege or not.

If ALL your guns are in a gun safe, the only person in your house who is “safe”, is an intruder.

Depends on the kind of safe. I can get mine open in two seconds.

Same except bolt action

Never shot anybody or anything

Well I never shot anyBODY, but I did shoot a number of tin cans, targets, miscellaneous rodents, sparrows, and starlings.

“I have often wonder why we cede the media to the left.”

We did not “cede the media to the left”. They actively took it, defend their turf, and work hard to keep conservatives out of the mainstream media.

Look at the attacks on Fox news, Glenn Beck, and anyone who does not toe the line in supporting and covering for the Obama administration.

We have to fight hard to gain new media.

I have wanted to start Houstonwood (a conservative Hollywood for a long time). When they finally get around to changing the laws regarding profit sharing and kickstarter organizations, I am going to put together a business plan and seek out investors.

Until then, it is probably dead in the water as you can’t distribute profits or offer shares without some really expensive filings.

Not fighting for a place in the media is ceding it to the left. But what I am talking about is using entertainment for education, not the news programs or talking head programs. Do you recall an old series called “You Are There”, or something like that? It was low budget but a great window into our history. Would people find a program dedicated to the historical debate on gun control entertaining? How about in that same program vindication of that principle based on history? What about the true story of Thanksgiving? I can think of many programs that could be based on conservative themes reaching into historical fact.

Great idea! That is the kind of initiative we need. Good luck and I will keep my eyes open for any progress on that.

I was a city boy. Opportunities to shot were limited to a few times a year or at the range.p

I shot at a range in the K-12 school basement once a week. Single shot bolt action .22, early 1950s.

You clearly should be hunted down and arrested. The time frame of your crime is clearly not as important as the magnitude of your crime. Your lack of remource suggests a deep seated propensity for recetisism and can not be ignored. Authorities will be consulted in a multi jurisdictional context.
