That was unexpected. Who would have guessed that adding several thousand dollars to the cost of hiring a full-time worker would reduce the number of full-time jobs created?

Not only that, employers in this new environment are making damned sure they don’t hire anyone who even remotely could be considered a “health risk”. That means the “elderly”. I’ve had a number of companies wanting to talk to me about my doing work for them and coming on board full time—that is, before they got their hands on any documents showing my age, then all of a sudden “things” happened that caused my candidacy to fall to pieces. Twice in the past 6 months, and never happened to me before, so I know it isn’t a fluke.
