A top Senate Democrat nudged the Obama administration to provide weapons to the Syrian opposition, introducing a bill Monday that would explicitly allow the U.S. to provide arms, military training and non-lethal aid to the rebels.
Sen. Bob Menendez of New Jersey, chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, introduced the legislation on the heels of U.S. intelligence claims that chemical weapons likely were used in the country.
"The Assad regime has crossed a red line that forces us to consider all options," Menendez said in a written statement. "The greatest humanitarian crisis in the world is unfolding in and around Syria, and the U.S. must play a role in tipping the scales toward opposition groups and working to build a free Syria."

There are plenty of muslims with money in the middle east to help. Let guilty libs send their own dollars, and daughters, to the Red Crescent, etc. to help if they want. Meanwhile, Obama says the rebels are nice people so NBC should embed budding reporter Chelsea Clinton with them. Her mom could use the cover.
Yeah, and he tried to put a tricky rider in the bill about Syria opening up their teenage prostitutes to him, very carefully worded.It makes sense that Menendez is squawking loudly about some prominent issue right at this moment, rather than retreating sheepishly into the woodwork. That would make him look guilty, but since predictably, no one is pursuing what looked (laughably, as it turned out)like a big scandal in the making, I guess he feels free to put himself front and center—old politician’s trick.

This is the kind of thing that those good-for-nothing Republicans ought to be able to capitalize on.
There are no “”good guys” in this fight.
We could really gain some mileage with the college age crowd by standing against this.
