present." Those MFCS's. My Senators F***ed me again. The first National Sales Tax and the camel's nose is well inside the tent. And the two Republicans from Arizona voted for it. It ain't Barry Goldwater's state anymore.

Barry Goldwater had moved far to the left by 1974; he was no longer the 1964 model for most of his later career. People in AZ just never knew.

John Cornyn also sat out the vote. This is probably an unpopular tax in TX, where sales taxes are already high. Cornyn probably doesn’t understand that.

To be accurate, it’s not a “national sales tax” but an enforcement of collection of state sales tax - forced BY the federal government. Don’t think that they don’t stand to gain by it, though.
