His mother was and is an American citizen. Cruz was an American when he was born. He did not have to become a naturalized citizen as he was an American when he was born. His allegiance has never been to any other country but America.
If he had been a Canadian, he would have had to be naturalized as an American, but he wasn’t.
If your mother, an American citizen living in America, was pregnant with you and took a day trip to Mexico and had labor pains and you were born there, would you be a Mexican?
It matters in terms of the Constitution. I guess Conservatives and Republicans are beginning to disregard it as much as the Democrats do.
Not if one of his parents was a US citizen and on official duty abroad. The US Constitution does not say one must be born on US SOIL to be natural born. That meme has been started by people with lot of idle time on their hands.
