Yes, and I would say that net postings —not just those at FR, though I’m sure here is of particular interest— are plum because the data load is SO low and the signal is SO clean compared to worky stuff like phone calls that often require abundant processing.

Whenever you get NSA people denying that they “store data” about Americans you have to understand that they have their whole own LEXICON that they employ to issue denials.

For example: info and data are not exactly the same thing. Data is raw facts, and when data are oganized it becomes information. So if you have someone from NSA vehemently saying they don’t store much information about Americans, TECHNICALLY he is telling the truth; it’s DATA that is the really voluminous thing they’re storing, not information.

And it gets WAY more legalistic and technical than that, too —like “store” absolutely means something totally different at NSA as compared with the Average Joe.

How could “store” mean anything other than what YOU hold the word to mean, right? Well I’ll remind you that a former Prez does not think “is” means the same thing as you think, and in the case of NSA today the stakes are WAY higher, and the underlying complexity of all matters is considerably more robust.

When “Joe” asks NSA a question he THINKS he understands NSA’s answer, but NSA understood the words contained in Joe’s question in a different way than Joe himself understood them, so Joe only THINKS he understands NSA’s answer.

NSA constantly takes advantage of this lexiconic difference in order to issue statements that only *appear* reassuring —the two sides are literally not speaking the same language, and one of the two guys is so lost that he does not realize he’s lost.

In short: UDC is an extraConstitutional microstate which spies on ANOTHER country called the USA —the territory outside their fence. Everyone inside was BORN in the USA and shares most of their values, except for the most important ones.
