The carvings on Stone Mountain are in no way any more of a bother, than that cross in the middle of the Mojave Desert!
They are a piece of state history.
I believe the folks wanting to change, or revise, or reconfigure the carvings, have the same idea as the Taliban blowing up 2000 year old Buddha statues in Afghanistan.
“It ain’t what we’re about, so let’s just get rid of it.”
"As of May 10, 2010, the cross was no longer in place atop Sunrise Rock. It was stolen on the night of May 910, 2010.[8][9][10] National Park Service spokeswoman Linda Slater said a $125,000 reward has been offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the thieves. The VFW promised that the memorial will be rebuilt. "This was a legal fight that a vandal just made personal to 50 million veterans, military personnel and their families," said National Commander Thomas J. Tradewell."
The liberals didn't like it, so while the court twiddled its fingers, they simply cut it down. Attempts have been made to rebuild it, but the court ordered the work to stop and anyone attempting to continue would be arrested and jailed. The liberals won. They didn't even need a low court decision to do this.
