“Rush has, in the past, had great political instincts.....”
*******************************************************************
He still has those great political instincts. I think Rubio is simply a blind spot (and I believe a temporary blind spot) for him. Clarity in Rush’s perception of Rubio’s true character will be restored to Rush—hopefully in the relative near term.

Rush has pretty well worked all his life and probably hasn’t had much time to frequent pool halls. Or, more accurately, the kind of pool halls in which I wasted some of my youth. Rubio is a familiar type to me—the hustler. I learned to recognize his type in my youth and thus avoided the losses that sometimes befell some of my slower learning (or perhaps more gullible) friends. It was only recently that I started to see through Rubio’s facade and recognized the “hustler” character that was hiding behind that facade. After all these years I had started to let some of my character recognition skills get rusty and it took the Amnesty Gang of 8 business to restore those skills to me.

I hope Rush wakes up soon to Rubio’s true character and learns to recognize that he is being hustled. We need Rush; he is one of the great hopes we have of regaining and then retaining the great Republic we were given.

“Rubio is my friend.”

With those words Rush showed he is just like the rest of the elites.
Being part of their club trumps all principles. That is why the Senate is such a corrupt and dangerous place.

It’s like all those people who were friends of Hitler, and thus could overlook all the faults and corruption that was going on around them just to maintain their friendship.

Rubio looks naive, but is he as tough as his original backers proclaimed?

I don’t think Rush would ever agree with your analysis of Rubio, which is certainly original thinking on your part.

Reagan had a similar chief of staff, the Bushite Jim Baker. Didn’t help too much

That's a great post right there.
I agree completely.

I think what makes Rush go easy on Rubio is that he sees in Rubio a youthful optimism that he himself can no longer conjure, and he finds that optimism ingratiating. It is my opinion that, like me, Rush knows in his gut that America is finished. America is now nothing more than a land mass populated by moochers, cretins, ingrates, and parasites who have absolutely no respect for the military and who vote for big government to confiscate money from their neighbors so that it may be “redistributed” to them in exchange for their votes. It is not an America worth defending anymore. That America no longer exists.

The parasites outnumber the hosts now, and there’s no going back. America is dead.
The Democrats have won.

America has now elected - - twice - - an African communist as its president and Commander-in-Chief. If that doesn't tell you America is finished, nothing will. Rush can hardly believe there are people like Rubio out there who still appear to have hope that America can be restored. Rush's problem is that he doesn't really know what kind of vision for a restored America Rubio truly has.

Rush lost me with the birther issue and his silence on the subject.

His Rubio comments seal the deal, he is a New World Ordeer republican sellout.

BS, Rush. Look up Rubio’s record as the Florida Leader of the House. Look it up! He isn’t doing what is best for this nation and I really resent your pandering to him. Expose him for what he is or your credibility will take a serious hit.

Thanks for a thoughtful post. I’d like to learn more. What specific behaviors do you associate with a “hustler?”

Let us stop to recall for a moment that this Rush fellow, redoubtable broadcaster and mattress salesman that he is, was once very debonair and unconcerned about illegal immigration. Glad he's against "amnesty." But he really is a bit of a Johnny-come-lately on the issue.

In fact, at one point when I (that's right, me) was in communication with him it about it, he said, and I quote "Illegal immigration is the sign of a healthy economy." Those words were oddly enough, the very same terms in use by the US Chamber of Commerce! Now that the economy is distinctly unhealthy, Rush (and the Chamber) would like us to forget their "look the other way" stance.

Furthermore, Rush has become a fervent Rubio man. Rush has never admitted that there might even be a constitutional eligibility issue here... or anywhere else.

Let me explain a personal prejudice. I believe Right Wing Talk Radio has an overall negative effect on the conservative movement. It is a commercial broadcast phenomenon that reiterates the bad news about Obama day after day but only to an audience who already knows it. The constant negativity, IMNVHO, depresses turnout among the base. The mere word "Conservatism" is not a program nor a Plan for action. For instance, not one of the Rightie Yakkers ever asked Romney what his program or plan was to be if he should win the election. Instead they (and Romney) simply offered the voters the fact that Romney was not Obama. Result: so-called "conservatives" absent at the polls.

Rush is right. Rubio is naive and will get burned after trying to “compromise” with democrats. Rubio will get burned by not trying to “compromise” with democrats too.

Either way, he’s toast.. I just hope he doesn’t get burned too badly.

Rubio is the voluntary and willing tool, being used by the usual amnesty/open borders suspects to hoodwink the American public into thinking that this Gang of 8 bill isn’t amnesty, and that it actually contains tough border enforcement requirements.

Everything Rubio is doing on this issue is deceitful and dishonest. Both Rush and Levin have said what a fabulous guy Rubio is, and how they’ve had many private conversations with him. And, of course, Hannity has been groveling and worshiping at Rubio’s feet since he first became known nationally.

Rush and Levin are hurting themselves in the eyes of many by pretending Rubio’s deceit and dishonestly is just a garden variety difference on an issue, nothing unusual.

You’re right. There is simply no logical way Rubio doesn’t fully understand who is pushing and financing this amnesty...the biggest clue...he lies...he says this isn’t amnesty.

WHO is Americans for a Conservative Direction? (Hint—It AIN’T conservatives!)

I don’t buy this whole “he means well but is just misguided” line. Rubio and other supporters of amnesty know exactly what they’re doing and why. There’s no sense looking for angels that just aren’t there.
