Two explosions outside the campaign offices of two parliamentary candidates killed nine people and injured at least 30 more in northwest Pakistan on April 28, Press Trust of India reported. The first explosion occurred in the Kohat district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province, and the second took place in the Maqsoodabad suburb of Peshawar. Though no group has claimed responsibility for the attacks, the Pakistani Taliban have conducted similar attacks against political targets in the run-up to the country’s parliamentary elections.x:

The military intelligence chief for Yemen’s Hadramawt province, Col. Ahmed Abdulrazzaq, was shot and killed April 27 by suspected Islamist militants on a motorbike, a security official said, Reuters reported. Yemen’s central government has been attempting to manage the threat from al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula and the increasingly violent southern secessionist movement.
