One in five Germans would like to see the monarchy restored, according to a survey released on Thursday. Young Germans were even keener on replacing the president with a new Kaiser. …

Despite swelling support among the young, most Germans still oppose the idea. 51 percent of all respondents said that having a king or queen would cost too much money. Sixty nine percent said they were completely against the idea. …

If the Germans had kept the Kaiser, there would be no Hitler.

Exactly. And possibly no Lenin.

It’s a good thing that the Khalistanis (Punjab separatists) don’t represent all Sikhs by far, as well.

We fought against the Second Reich in WWI, led by the last Kaiser, who abdicated. No reason to conclude that the absence of a Kaiser was a cause for the war that followed.

In 1786, at the time of Shays' Rebellion in Massachusetts, the President of the Confederation Congress was one Nathaniel Gorham, later one of the Massachusetts delegates to the Consitutional Convention. Worried that the rebellion might spread to other states, he wrote to Prince Henry of Hohenzollern (a younger brother of Frederick the Great, who had recently died, but the Prussian throne had gone to the son of a deceased older brother of Henry's), asking if he would be willing to be King of America. Henry's mother was a daughter of King George I of Great Britain.

Obviously nothing came of that.

Uh, wasn’t Kaiser Wilhelm the crazy warmongering Kaiser who plunged Germany into a losing war due to his reckless foreign policy and obsession with pursuing an arms race with the Royal Navy?

Austria was the first country to declare war and dragged Germany in after them.

After a 19-year-old terrorist killed the heir to the Austrian throne, the Austrian went after Serbia, the source of the weapons (although the Serbian government as such wasn't guilty of sending the weapons into Bosnia).

After 19 Al Qaeda terrorists attacked the US, George W. Bush went after Afghanistan, the Al Qaeda sanctuary, although the Afghan government as such had not caused 9/11.

After a 19-year-old Chechen terrorist and his older brother pulled off a terrorist attack in Boston, there is no likelihood that the current administration will take any steps against the people who aided the terrorists.

Uh, yeah, its pretty well known that Wilhelm II ditched Bismark and his cautious foreign policy in pursuit of a reckless attempt to emulate the Royal Navy (Britain was very cagey about its Naval Supremacy, otherwise it would have been a natural German ally). He also gave Austria carte blanche to do what he liked to Serbia, when an otherwise more moderate response might have been attempted.

It was natural for any great power to pursue parity on the high seas. In the handling of the Sarajevo crisis Germany was in the right, or at least perceived itself to be in the right. The Keiser, of course, shares the responsibility along with other great powers of the time, but there was nothing war-mongering or crazy about seeking justice to be rendered to what we today call “terrorists”.

Honestly, it’s probably going to be for the better that Germany actually restores its Kaiser. At least there, it would also restore its Christian religion as well, and also make sure it is strong enough to actually repel Islamic invaders. In fact, funnily enough, even though Germany got blamed for World War I, the actual instigators, the Black Hand of the Ottoman Empire, got away with it scot free.
