Gun control advocates today said they consider a ban on high capacity ammunition clips to be the "cornerstone" of any gun control package and the Senate's failure to include the legislation could jeopardize their support.

THIS is the kind of CRAP we have to put up with in New Jersey. So far Christie has indicated he supports only mild changes in the gun laws here. The worst is a ban on the .50 caliber "sniper" rifle.

But these people want far more.

Harry Belafonte?

John Kenneth Galbraith???

William Sloan Coffin ???

Noam Chompsky???

Reads like a who's who of warmed=pver 1960's left wing fruitcakes. And New Jersey Legislators like Greenwald and Oliver actually LISTEN to these jerks!!

I don’t have any “high capacity ammunition clips”, and I’m not going to comment on how many high capacity ammunition magazines I used to have before the boating accident, which is none of the government’s business. Unless I use a firearm to commit a crime, they are exceeding their authority and committing a crime against humanity if they attempt (even unsuccessfully) to infringe on my God-given and fundamental human right to keep and bear arms. Liberals disgust me, and anti-gun liberals are the worst of the bunch.

Sounds like good news.

Make a completely impossible-to-pass tenet the “cornerstone” of your support ... if they add it, it won’t pass w/ you ... if they don’t add it, it won’t pass without you ...

Either way, we get watch it go down in flames. To thunderous applause.

This is news? We’ve known it since 1968!

Nelson T. ‘Pete’ Shields
Founder of Handgun Control, Inc.

“I’m convinced that we have to have federal legislation to build on. We’re going to have to take one step at a time, and the first step is necessarily — given the political realities — going to be very modest.

Of course, it’s true that politicians will then go home and say, ‘This is a great law. The problem is solved.’ And it’s also true that such statements will tend to defuse the gun-control issue for a time.

So then we’ll have to strengthen that law, and then again to strengthen that law, and maybe again and again. Right now, though, we’d be satisfied not with half a loaf but with a slice. Our ultimate goal — total control of handguns in the United States — is going to take time.

My estimate is from seven to ten years. The problem is to slow down the increasing number of handguns sold in this country. The second problem is to get them all registered. And the final problem is to make the possession of all handguns and all handgun ammunition — except for the military, policemen, licensed security guards, licensed sporting clubs, and licensed gun collectors — totally illegal.”

-Pete Shields, Chairman and founder, Handgun Control Inc., “A Reporter At Large: Handguns,” The New Yorker, July 26, 1976, 57-58

“Yes, I’m for an outright ban [on handguns].”

-Pete Shields, Chairman emeritus, Handgun Control, Inc., 60 Minutes interview

HCI, around 1984, came out in favor of a ban on semi-auto rifles and shotguns.

Force all uniformed police to adhere to the same magazine limits placed on the public. Also limit them to the same arms. Exceptions only for special units.

hey still want to ban High Capacity Clips? LOL

“It’s extremely alarming that Rep. DeGette is running federal legislation to ban magazine clips, when she doesn’t even know what a magazine clip is,” said spokesman Owen Loftus. “Rep. DeGette’s comments show that Democrats are more concerned with appeasing their radical base, than standing up for responsible, law abiding citizens.”

Thank goodness, I don't have any “clips” at all so I'm not concerned. Then, there was that woman senator or representative, don't remember which, who said once you outlaw clips and the shooters shoot all the bullets in the clips they have, they will never have another one because there won't be any more clips to buy. She meant at that point, they could only shoot one round and have to load another one to fire again.

It's a good thing our congress people know everything about firearms. If they didn't, they might pass stupid laws regarding firearms./s

I have 30 or more clips. But, alas the grip of a newborn.

Must take some kinda mitts to feed ten rounds into the gullet of a magazine. I sure can’t.

I just wish I lived in a gun-friendly state. All over America, citizens are breathing a little freer because Obama’s gun package crashed and burned - for the moment.

But here in the Northeast where we have to deal with idiot gun control radicals, we still have to worry.

Its so frustrating.

Oh definitely. MA saw the first shots of the Revolution yet today a MA citizen needs permission from his local police chief to carry.

And if you move to another town, you have to get permission from the new chief- whatever permit you had before is irrelevant.

Strange world.

Yes. I heard about those idiots putting a trigger lock on an original Committee of Safety Musket haging up in the MA statehouse.
