House, Senate Leaders Trying to Exempt Themselves from Obamacare

Congressional leaders of both parties in the House and Senate are trying to exempt themselves--and their staffs--from Obamacare's health insurance exchanges they will be mandated to join under the law. This would be a devastating indictment of Obamacare and the Democrats who rammed it through. Republicans may give Democrats cover if they join them in agreeing to the exemptions.

According to a (Politico) the "high-level" talks involve Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV), House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH), the Obama administration and other "top lawmakers," and both sides are "acutely aware of the potential for political fallout from giving carve-outs from the hugely controversial law to 535 lawmakers and thousands of their aides."

Noting the important role that Republican lawmakers have in the talks, a source told Politico that, “Everyone has to hold hands on this and jump, or nothing is going to get done.”

Michael Steel, a Boehner spokesman, told Politico that Boehner's "objective is to spare the entire country from the ravages of the president’s health care law.

Does anyone know if there has ever been a waiver application that has been denied? Just curious...

Only to those that DID NOT contribute to Obama's campaign ...

How funny. They make and pass the laws and only we the people have to follow them. I DON’T THINK SO!

Happens all the time - Congress passes a law and then exempts itself from it.

Case in point - the OSHA law. Congress is exempt. So they don't have to do remediation on their buildings, like the Library of Congress [LOC].

The 3 LOC buildings are inter-connected by tunnels that you can use to travel from one to another. Heating pipes hung from the ceiling are wrapped in exposed asbestos.

And the people that move the books around and such work down there !!!

Absolutely MAKE every member of Congress, the Executive branch, and the Judiciary and every one of their staff members sign up for ObamaCare as their medical plan from now on.
We hear so much about “fairness” from the Democrats. Let’s let them enjoy their equality with the rest of us.

I tried to contact my Rep. and Senators about their attempt to exempt themselves from Obamacare. Faxes are rejected; phones are off the hook. One accepted my email; the other two don’t even list an email. Scumbags.

Congress should NOT have to put up with the rules they impose on us, they are better than us.
